Abstract

This chapter discusses TBX, an XML-based family of terminology exchange formats. The main purpose of an exchange format is to separate data and software, which allows for data asset protection, terminological consistency and software interoperability. Ten design requirements for any terminology exchange format are proposed and TBX is evaluated according to them. Finally, probable future developments of TBX are discussed.
