Chapter 4 Energy efficiency
-
A. Matyakubov
Abstract
This chapter discusses the development of a highly efficient and inexpensive saltwater desalination installation using renewable energy sources such as solar energy. The implementation of the installation proposed in this chapter is more rational and efficient than the previously existing installations. The results of studies comparing the operation of the existing installation and the proposed installation for desalination of water proved the distinguishing characteristics of the developed installation by its productivity. It was determined that the use of the proposed installation is possible in areas with the most favorable climatic conditions. A detailed study using a theoretical approach has been carried out on solar water distillation technology. The study has revealed that this technology is very viable, capable of providing potable drinking water to rural communities remote from public potable water provision. The technology has demonstrated itself to be simple and cost-effective, making it affordable for the rural populace.
