Crystal-structure determination of euphenyl chloroacetate

Abstract
The crystal structure of euphenyl chloroacetate has been determined, and refined by least-squares methods to an R value of 0.10 on 1417 observed reflexions. The crystals are monoclinic, space group P21, with a = 7.335(3), b = 11.445(5), c = 18.570(7) Å, β = 94.95(3)° and Z = 2. Earlier work, on euphenyl iodoacetate, is substantiated, but the molecular geometry is now presented with better precision. Some comments are made on the calculation and selection of |E|-values.
