Abstract

Until now, the development of construction grammar and the study of discourse traditions have proceeded independently, without attracting the attention of researchers involved in either of these two fields. One hint of this mutual unawareness is the absence of any reference to discourse traditions in the Oxford Handbook of Construction Grammar. The aim of this chapter is to question the relevance for construction grammar to address discursive traditions and conversely for researchers engaged in exploring discursive traditions to become acquainted with the usage-based vision of language and more precisely to integrate the notions of construction and constructional change.
