Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of corpus phonology, which has recently emerged as a relatively autonomous field at the interface between phonology and corpus linguistics. After providing some background information about the development of this research endeavor, I distinguish between two types of corpora, namely speech corpora and phonological databases, and provide an overview of the tools and statistical methods that can be used to transcribe, annotate and analyze such corpora.
