Zusammenfassung In den vergangenen Jahren entwickelte sich der Markt für Elektro-(E-)Mobilität in Deutschland kontinuierlich weiter und damit auch die zugehörige Ladeinfrastruktur. Während zunächst an Wechselstrom-(AC-)Ladestationen geladen wurde, wird nun vermehrt auf Gleichstrom (DC) gesetzt, aufgrund einer deutlich kürzeren Ladezeit. Da es sich bei einer Ladestation um eine Versorgungseinrichtung handelt, die Energie an ein nichtstationäres elektrisches Betriebsmittel abgibt, liegt ein Rechtsgeschäft vor. Dieses wird in Deutschland durch die Mess- und Eichverordnung sowie das Mess- und Eichgesetz geregelt. Eine europaweite Richtlinie gibt es für DC-Elektrizitätszähler in Schnellladestationen hingegen noch nicht. Stattdessen tolerierten die Behörden bis zum 31.3.2019 eine nicht eichrechtskonforme Übergangslösung, bei der die auf der Gleichstromseite bezogene elektrische Energie entweder über die Zeit abgerechnet oder aus der auf der Wechselstromseite bezogenen Energie abzüglich einer Pauschale geschätzt wurde (wenn die bezogene Energie nicht aus Gründen der Einfachheit verschenkt wurde). Seit Ablauf der genannten Frist besteht die Empfehlung, die Schnellladestationen mit eichrechtskonformer DC-Messtechnik nachzurüsten, wofür aber keine einheitliche Lösung existiert. Dieser Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über den aktuellen Stand der DC-Elektrizitätszählertechnik in Zusammenhang mit Schnellladestationen. Daraus wird der notwendige Entwicklungsbedarf bei der Zählerqualifizierung abgeleitet. Schließlich stellen wir die Ergebnisse erster Schritte zur Realisierung eines Prüfsystems vor.

The effect of velocity profile distortion on the performance of flow sensors like the electromagnetic flowmeter has been a popular topic in flow measurement research. In many of the investigations computational modeling has been useful as a tool to understand the impact of flow distortion on flowmeter measurement accuracy. However, a more realistic investigation can be conducted by a model with ability to account for three-dimensional variation in fluidic and electromagnetic characteristics. In this research paper, a multiphysics model of the electromagnetic flowmeter accounting for three-dimensional flow distortion effects and independent of experimental measurements is developed and validated. The model integrates the flow and magnetic fields to yield the induced electrical signal, and is a departure from the popular weight function calculation approach. The model predicts flow distortion effects realistically and is employed in evaluating an idea to mitigate flow distortion problems: manipulating the magnetic field to minimize distortion effects. It is seen that while flow distortion induces a 3 to 4 % error in a flowmeter designed arbitrarily, proper design of the coils can reduce this error to an insignificant level.

In electrical capacitance tomography (ECT), the resolution of the reconstructed permittivity distribution improves with the number of electrodes used whereas the number of capacitance measurements and the measurement time increases with the number of electrodes. To cope with this tradeoff, we present a phantom-dependent adaptation scheme in which coarse measurements are performed with terminal electrodes interconnected to form a synthetic electrode ring with fewer but larger electrodes. The concept was tested by observing the sloshing of water inside a pipe. We compare the reconstructed results based on eight synthetic electrodes, on 16 elementary electrodes, and on the adaptation scheme involving both the eight synthetic electrodes and some of the elementary capacitances. The reconstruction used the projected Landweber algorithm for capacitances determined by a finite-element simulation and for measured capacitances. The results contain artefacts attributed to the influence of the high permittivity of water compared to the low permittivity of the pipe wall. The adaptation scheme leads to nearly the same information as a full measurement of all 120 elementary capacitances but only requires the measurement of 30 % fewer capacitances. By detecting the fill level using a tomometric method, it can be determined within an uncertainty of 5 % FS.

Zusammenfassung Die kontinuierliche Weiterentwicklung induktiver Näherungsschalter erweitert zunehmend deren Anwendungsbereiche. Gleichzeitig erlauben der stetige Fortschritt der Mikroelektronik und die höhere Integration von Rechen- und Speicherelementen in Mikrokontrollern komplexere Datenverarbeitung in kompakten Sensorsystemen. In diesem Beitrag wird ein neues Messverfahren vorgeschlagen, das zusätzlich zur eigentlichen Funktion der Präsenzerkennung bzw. Abstandsmessung die Unterscheidung verschiedener Target-Materialien ermöglicht. Das Prinzip dieses Verfahrens wird zunächst vorgestellt und mithilfe eines automatisierten Messaufbaus demonstriert. Im Anschluss werden der Einfluss des Materials, der Einbauumgebung und unterschiedlicher Targets dargestellt und diskutiert. Hierfür werden verschieden geformte Targets und verschiedene Targetgrößen der bereits vorgestellten Materialien eingesetzt. Es werden Potentiale dieses Verfahrens in Bezug auf die Unterscheidbarkeit der Targetmaterialien, der Einbauumgebung und Targetform diskutiert und die weitere Übertragbarkeit des Verfahrens bewertet. Abschließend wird die industrielle Verwertbarkeit beurteilt.

The article presents measurements with a high-speed focal-distance modulated fibre-coupled confocal sensor integrated into a nano measuring machine (NMM-1). Combined with an appropriate signal processing, this axial beam modulating sensor yields a linear characteristic curve within a range of about 600 nm. This characteristic curve enables scans in closed-loop constant distance mode, where the controller of the NMM-1 keeps the distance between the measured surface and the sensor constant. Therefore, only one lateral scan is necessary to measure a given topography. Nevertheless, it is also possible to conduct open-loop constant height measurements on discrete heights. The axial offset between the heights needs to be only slightly less than the measuring range of the sensor, leading to a great reduction of the number of needed lateral scans to measure a given topography compared to a conventional confocal sensor, where the axial offset for a similar optical system is typically about 50 nm. To combine the scans taken at different heights, it is possible to stitch them using overlapping measuring points taken at two adjacent heights. Within this article, measurements are conducted on a roughness standard in closed-loop constant distance and in open-loop constant height mode, where the latter are evaluated with and without the application of the stitching algorithm.

Zusammenfassung Sehr präzise Lufttemperaturmessung in der Meteorologie oder in klimatisierten Innenräumen sind herausfordernd, weil Strahlungseinflüsse und die Eigenerwärmung der Widerstandsthermometer teilweise erhebliche Störeinflüsse sind. In unserem Artikel betrachten wir eine spezielle Stromspeisung und weisen nach, dass diese die Eigenerwärmung auf unter ein Millikelvin reduzieren kann. Für einen typischen, für den Außeneinsatz in meteorologischen Wetterstationen geeigneten und üblichen Fühleraufbau erfolgen Simulationen der durch den gepulsten elektrischen Messstrom auftretenden statischen und dynamischen Eigenerwärmung. Der transiente Verlauf der Eigenerwärmung hängt stärker vom inneren Aufbau des Fühlers als vom Wärmeübergangskoeffizienten zur umgebenden ruhenden Luft ab. Die mittlere statische Eigenerwärmung aus einem stark vereinfachten Modell passt gut zum simulierten transienten Verlauf. Die Methode der Impulsstromspeisung hat sich durch die beschriebenen Simulationen als sehr effektiv zur Verringerung der Eigenerwärmung von Widerstandsthermometern erwiesen.

Froth flotation is an important process for separating metal particles from gangue. A single flotation circuit for copper uses approx. 44 billion litres water a year. In situ process monitoring of the foam’s parameters and closed-loop control can reduce the resource use. However, no measurement technique is broadly employed that yields the liquid fraction distribution in the froth. Optical measurements are prevented by the bulk foam’s opacity. Though, ultrasound in the low frequency range is able to penetrate froth. In this paper we investigate the application of ultrasound to measure the local liquid content of aqueous foam in the axis of the ultrasound beam. Assuming a dependency of the backscattering coefficient b on the foam’s liquid fraction ϕ , we developed a model to calculate b from the echo signal. Local backscattering coefficients b n {b_{n}} can be determined for time gated windows and show a trend in the dependency on the foam’s liquid fraction ϕ (for ϕ < 0.8\phi <0.8 %). The absolute uncertainty of the liquid fraction determined by means of an electrical reference measurement is σ ϕ = 0.079{\sigma _{\phi }}=0.079 %. We demonstrated the capability of spatio-temporally resolved measurements with a frame rate of 0.33 Hz and an axial resolution of 7.9 mm in an experiment with a time-varying, inhomogeneous liquid fraction. This research work is contributing to a determination of in situ information of the foam’s parameter in a flotation process.

Ever since noise was spotted and proven to cause problems for the transmission and detection of information through a communication channel, a standard procedure in the process of characterizing a detection system of the communication channel is to determine the level of the lowest detectable signal. In signal processing, this is usually done by determining the so-called threshold signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). This determination is especially important for the communication channels and systems that constantly operate with low-level signals. A good example of such a system is definitely the NMR spectroscopy system. However, to the authors’ knowledge, the threshold SNR value of NMR spectroscopy systems has not been determined yet. That is why the experts in the field of NMR spectroscopy were asked to assess, using an online questionnaire, which SNR level they considered to be the NMR threshold SNR level. Afterwards, the threshold value was calculated from the obtained data. Finally, it was compared to the existing rule of thumb and thus, a conclusion about its legitimacy was made. The described questionnaire is still available online (https://forms.gle/Y9hyDZ1v1iJoEbk27). This enables everyone to form their own opinion about the threshold SNR level, which the authors encourage the readers to do.

This contribution deals with the analysis of the positioning accuracy of a new Nano Fabrication Machine. This machine uses a planar direct drive system and has a positioning range up to 100 mm in diameter. The positioning accuracy was investigated in different movement scenarios, including phases of acceleration and deceleration. Also, the target position error of certain movements at different positions of the machine slider is considered. Currently, the NFM-100 is equipped with a tip-based measuring system. This Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) uses self-actuating and self-sensing microcantilevers, which can be used also for Field-Emission-Scanning-Probe-Lithography (FESPL). This process is capable of fabricating structures in the range of nanometres. In combination with the NFM-100 and its positioning range, nanostructures can be analysed and written in a macroscopic range without any tool change. However, the focus in this article is on the measurement and positioning accuracy of the tip-based measuring system in combination with the NFM-100 and is verified by repeated measurements. Finally, a linescan, realised using both systems, is shown over a long range of motion of 30 mm.
