In this paper we outline the foundations of Homological Mirror Symmetry for manifolds of general type. Both Physics and Categorical prospectives are considered.

We obtain finiteness theorems for algebraic cycles of small codimension on quadric fibrations over curves over perfect fields. For example, if k is finitely generated over ℚ and X → C is a quadric fibration of odd relative dimension at least 11, then CH i(X) is finitely generated for i ≤ 4.

We prove that a certain Brill-Noether locus over a non-hyperelliptic curve C of genus 4, is isomorphic to the Donagi-Izadi cubic threefold in the case when the pencils of the two trigonal line bundles of C coincide.

In a recent paper, Gallego, González and Purnaprajna showed that rational 3-ropes can be smoothed. We generalise their proof, and obtain smoothability of rational m-ropes for m ≥ 3.

For a monomial ideal I ⊂ S = K[x 1...,x n], we show that sdepth(S/I) ≥ n − g(I), where g(I) is the number of the minimal monomial generators of I. If I =νI′, where ν ∈ S is a monomial, then we see that sdepth(S/I) = sdepth(S/I′). We prove that if I is a monomial ideal I ⊂ S minimally generated by three monomials, then I and S/I satisfy the Stanley conjecture. Given a saturated monomial ideal I ⊂ K[x 1,x 2,x 3] we show that sdepth(I) = 2. As a consequence, sdepth(I) ≥ sdepth(K[x 1,x 2,x 3]//I) +1 for any monomial ideal in I ⊂ K[x 1,x 2,x 3].

A formula for the mean value of multiplicative functions associated to certain cusp forms is obtained. The paper is a continuation of [4].

In this article we look into characterizing primitive groups in the following way. Given a primitive group we single out a subset of its generators such that these generators alone (the so-called primitive generators) imply the group is primitive. The remaining generators ensure transitivity or comply with specific features of the group. We show that, other than the symmetric and alternating groups, there are infinitely many primitive groups with one primitive generator each. These primitive groups are certain Mathieu groups, certain projective general and projective special linear groups, and certain subgroups of some affine special linear groups.

In this paper we study a curvature integral associated with a pair of orthogonal foliations on the Riemann sphere S 2 and we compute the minimal value of the volume of meromorphic foliations.

Let X be an infinite, locally connected, locally compact separable metrizable space. The space C(X) of real-valued continuous functions defined on X with the compact-open topology is a separable Fréchet space, so it is homeomorphic to the psuedo-interior s = (−1, 1)ℕ of the Hilbert cube Q = [−1, 1]ℕ. In this paper, generalizing the Sakai-Uehara’s result to the non-compact case, we construct a natural compactification $$ \bar C $$(X) of C(X) such that the pair ($$ \bar C $$(X), C(X)) is homeomorphic to (Q, s). In case X has no isolated points, this compactification $$ \bar C $$(X) coincides with the space USCCF(X,) of all upper semi-continuous set-valued functions φ: X → = [−∞, ∞] such that each φ(x) is a closed interval, where the topology for USCCF(X, ) is inherited from the Fell hyperspace Cld*F(X × ) of all closed sets in X × .

It is known that there is a continuous linear functional on L ∞ which is not narrow. On the other hand, every order-to-norm continuous AM-compact operator from L ∞(μ) to a Banach space is narrow. We study order-to-norm continuous operators acting from L ∞(μ) with a finite atomless measure μ to a Banach space. One of our main results asserts that every order-to-norm continuous operator from L ∞(μ) to c 0(Γ) is narrow while not every such an operator is AM-compact.

The paper is concerned with existence results for positive solutions and maximal positive solutions of singular mixed boundary value problems. Nonlinearities h(t;x;y) in differential equations admit a time singularity at t=0 and/or at t=T and a strong singularity at x=0.

This paper is concerned with the asymptotic behavior of solutions of nonlinear differential equations of the third-order with quasiderivatives. We give the necessary and sufficient conditions guaranteeing the existence of bounded nonoscillatory solutions. Sufficient conditions are proved via a topological approach based on the Banach fixed point theorem.

We construct Bernstein sets in ℝ having some additional algebraic properties. In particular, solving a problem of Kraszewski, Rałowski, Szczepaniak and Żeberski, we construct a Bernstein set which is a < c-covering and improve some other results of Rałowski, Szczepaniak and Żeberski on nonmeasurable sets.

Let $$ \mathcal{K} $$(ℝ) stand for the hyperspace of all nonempty compact sets on the real line and let d ±(x;E) denote the (right- or left-hand) Lebesgue density of a measurable set E ⊂ ℝ at a point x∈ ℝ. In [3] it was proved that $$ \{ K \in \mathcal{K}(\mathbb{R}):\forall _x \in K(d^ + (x,K) = 1ord^ - (x,K) = 1)\} $$ is ⊓11-complete. In this paper we define an abstract density operator ⅅ± and we generalize the above result. Some applications are included.

We study k th order systems of two rational difference equations $$ x_n = \frac{{\alpha + \sum\nolimits_{i = 1}^k {\beta _i x_{n - i} + } \sum\nolimits_{i = 1}^k {\gamma _i y_{n - i} } }} {{A + \sum\nolimits_{j = 1}^k {B_j x_{n - j} + } \sum\nolimits_{j = 1}^k {C_j y_{n - j} } }},n \in \mathbb{N}, $$ In particular we assume non-negative parameters and non-negative initial conditions. We develop several approaches which allow us to prove that unbounded solutions exist for certain initial conditions in a range of the parameters.

A well-known result in public economics is that capital income should not be taxed in the long run. This result has been derived using necessary optimality conditions for an appropriate dynamic Stackelberg game. In this paper we consider three models of dynamic taxation in continuous time and suggest a method for calculating their feedback Nash equilibria based on a sufficient condition for optimality. We show that the optimal tax on capital income is generally different from zero.

The projection-algebraic approach of the Calogero type for discrete approximations of linear and nonlinear differential operator equations in Banach spaces is studied. The solution convergence and realizability properties of the related approximating schemes are analyzed. For the limiting-dense approximating scheme of linear differential operator equations a new convergence theorem is stated. In the case of nonlinear differential operator equations the effective convergence conditions for the approximated solution sets, based on a Leray-Schauder type fixed point theorem, are obtained.

We present a couple of general inequalities related to the Jensen-Steffensen inequality in its discrete and integral form. The Jensen-Steffensen inequality, Slater’s inequality and a generalization of the counterpart to the Jensen-Steffensen inequality are deduced as special cases from these general inequalities.

We establish conditions under which Baire measurable solutions f of $$ \Gamma (x,y,|f(x) - f(y)|) = \Phi (x,y,f(x + \phi _1 (y)),...,f(x + \phi _N (y))) $$ defined on a metrizable topological group are continuous at zero.

In the present paper we introduce a q-analogue of the Baskakov-Kantorovich operators and investigate their weighted statistical approximation properties. By using a weighted modulus of smoothness, we give some direct estimations for error in case 0 < q < 1.
