The isomorphism of 0-homology groups of a categorical at zero semigroup and homology groups of its 0-reflector is proved. Some applications of 0-homology to Eilenberg-MacLane homology of semigroups are given.

Let F be a field, A be a vector space over F, and GL(F,A) the group of all automorphisms of the vector space A. A subspace B of A is called nearly G-invariant, if dimF(BFG/B) is finite. A subspace B is called almost G-invariant, if dimF(B/CoreG(B)) is finite. In the present article we begin the study of subgroups G of GL(F,A) such that every subspace of A is either nearly G-invariant or almost G-invariant. More precisely, we consider the case when G is a periodic p′-group where p = charF.

We introduce the notion of the non-subnormal deviation of a group G. If the deviation is 0 then G satisfies the minimal condition for nonsubnormal subgroups, while if the deviation is at most 1 then G satisfies the so-called weak minimal condition for such subgroups (though the converse does not hold). Here we present some results on groups G that are either soluble or locally nilpotent and that have deviation at most 1. For example, a torsion-free locally nilpotent with deviation at most 1 is nilpotent, while a Baer group with deviation at most 1 has all of its subgroups subnormal.

It is known that the existence of the group inverse a # of a ring element a is equivalent to the invertibility of a 2 a − + 1 − aa −, independently of the choice of the von Neumann inverse a − of a. In this paper, we relate the Drazin index of a to the Drazin index of a 2 a − + 1 − aa −. We give an alternative characterization when considering matrices over an algebraically closed field. We close with some questions and remarks.

Let X be a K3 surface over a number field K. We prove that there exists a finite algebraic field extension E/K such that X has ordinary reduction at every non-archimedean place of E outside a density zero set of places.

It is shown that the proof by Mehta and Parameswaran of Wahl’s conjecture for Grassmannians in positive odd characteristics also works for symplectic and orthogonal Grassmannians.

We will give a condition characterizing spaces X with SNT(X) = {[X]} which generalizes the corresponding result of McGibbon and Moller [8] for rational H-spaces.

We prove the phase segregation phenomenon to occur in the ground state solutions of an interacting system of two self-coupled repulsive Hartree equations for large nonlinear and nonlocal interactions. A self-consistent numerical investigation visualizes the approach to this segregated regime.

We derive optimal regularity, in both time and space, for solutions of the Cauchy problem related to a degenerate differential equation in a Banach space X. Our results exhibit a sort of prevalence for space regularity, in the sense that the higher is the order of regularity with respect to space, the lower is the corresponding order of regularity with respect to time.

Let F be a C ∞ vector field defined near the origin O ∈ ℝn, F(O) = 0, and (Ft) be its local flow. Denote by the set of germs of orbit preserving diffeomorphisms h: ℝn → ℝn at O, and let , (r ≥ 0), be the identity component of with respect to the weak Whitney Wr topology. Then contains a subset consisting of maps of the form Fα(x)(x), where α: ℝn → ℝ runs over the space of all smooth germs at O. It was proved earlier by the author that if F is a linear vector field, then = . In this paper we present a class of examples of vector fields with degenerate singularities at O for which formally coincides with , i.e. on the level of ∞-jets at O. We also establish parameter rigidity of linear vector fields and “reduced” Hamiltonian vector fields of real homogeneous polynomials in two variables.

In this paper, every monadic implication algebra is represented as a union of a unique family of monadic filters of a suitable monadic Boolean algebra. Inspired by this representation, we introduce the notion of a monadic implication space, we give a topological representation for monadic implication algebras and we prove a dual equivalence between the category of monadic implication algebras and the category of monadic implication spaces.

In this paper we use the Euler-Seidel method for deriving new identities for hyperharmonic and r-Stirling numbers. The exponential generating function is determined for hyperharmonic numbers, which result is a generalization of Gosper’s identity. A classification of second order recurrence sequences is also given with the help of this method.

A characterization of oscillation and nonoscillation of the Emden-Fowler difference equation $$ \Delta (a_n \left| {\Delta x_n } \right|^\alpha sgn\Delta x_n ) + b_n \left| {x_{n + 1} } \right|^\beta sgnx_{n + 1} = 0 $$ is given, jointly with some asymptotic properties. The problem of the coexistence of all possible types of nonoscillatory solutions is also considered and a comparison with recent analogous results, stated in the half-linear case, is made.

In this paper, we introduce a new iterative process for finding the common element of the set of fixed points of a nonexpansive mapping and the set of solutions of the variational inequality problem for an α-inverse-strongly-monotone, by combining an modified extragradient scheme with the viscosity approximation method. We prove a strong convergence theorem for the sequences generated by this new iterative process.

Let {T n} be a sequence of linear operators on C[0,1], satisfying that {T n (e i)} converge in C[0,1] (not necessarily to e i) for i = 0,1,2, where e i = t i. We prove Korovkin-type theorem and give quantitative results on C 2[0,1] and C[0,1] for such sequences. Furthermore, we define King’s type q-Bernstein operator and give quantitative results for the approximation properties of such operators.

In this paper, we obtain some approximation theorems for k- positive linear operators defined on the space of analytical functions on the unit disc, via I-convergence. Some concluding remarks which includes A-statistical convergence are also given.
