Although the concept of global history is an imported one in the Chinese context, a closer scrutiny of the “interconnections” within global history will reveal that the East Asian tradition, which is historically and textually influenced by Chinese and Han culture, has an advantage over the Western tradition in this regard. The discussion of this paper focuses on the American psychologist Richard Nisbett’s book The Geography of Thought , which traces back to ancient times the patterns of thought in the East and West, reflecting the ancient Greek philosophers’ deep interest in conceptual categorization. This trait shaped much of Western philosophical thought. Western philosophers in antiquity believed in the stability of the world and understood the natural and social world based on their own interpretation of fixed attributes or characters. The ancient Chinese, on the other hand, were not interested in categories; they believed the world was in a constant state of change, and the functioning of natural and social subjects was the result of the interaction of various forces in the environment around those subjects. Therefore, this paper posits that many ideas that have originated from East Asian thought, including “interconnection,” would be useful in today’s globalized world, and, together with Western thought, may become the basis for forming a new theory that could be beneficial to both sides in reflecting on global history issues.

China and Cape Verde have maintained economic, political and cultural exchanges and cooperation. As trade between the two sides continues to strengthen, many Chinese immigrated to Cape Verde to do business and live. The ubiquitous Chinese shops made the author interested in the Chinese community and thus discussed and analyzed the Social Integration of Chinese Immigrants in Cape Verde. Against the background of the development and history of Chinese immigration, quantitative methods (questionnaires) were used to study the demographic characteristics, the situation of social integration and the factors that have an impact on this community. Through this, the author observes the difficulties of social integration of the Chinese community in Cape Verde, complementing this little-discussed research topic.

The article analyses the historical development and transnational exchange of “red world literature”. A special focus is placed on the proletarian-revolutionary literature (workers’ literature) of the 1920s and 1930s and then on the literature of China and Japan. First, the traditional concepts of world literature, which are often conceived in national, cultural or linguistic “containers”, are critically analysed. As an alternative, a network model is proposed that makes it possible to include literary works from the Global South (the examples are China and Japan) on an equal footing. Following Jürgen Habermas and Nancy Fraser, proletarian-revolutionary literature is understood as the literary movement of a subaltern counter-public that has developed in conscious opposition to the bourgeois literary movement. The article then looks in particular at the circumstances under which China joined the internationalist network of ‘red’ world literature and traces the role of the international proletarian revolutionary writers’ associations and literary conferences, which made a significant contribution to promoting the cross-border exchange of Chinese and Japanese literature. Finally, an explorative study will show how the literature of Chinese and Japanese authors became visible worldwide and what quantitative indicators this network possesses. This is done in a network analysis using GEPHI.

The first sight of Baekje Gilt-bronze incense burner is enough to take one by surprise and awe for its beauty and intricacy. Baekje Gilt-bronze incense burner excavated in Neungsan-ri, Buyeo in ROK was made in the 6th century AD and has its origins in the Han Dynasty of China’s incense burner called Boshanlu, ‘hill censer’. There are two bronze boshanlu excavated from the tomb of Seokam-ri, Pyongyang, a Nakrang. Baekje Gilt-bronze incense burner made half a century later in Baekje of the Korean Peninsula is believed to have inherited the tradition and iconography of Boshanlu, but its grand size, aesthetic supremacy, excellent composition, and scientific design have raised questions about who, where, and why it was produced. Although there are many studies on Boshanlu, the historical transition process from Boshanlu of the Han to Baekje’s Gilt-bronze incense burner has not been clearly explained to this day. In this paper, not only the archaeological, literary, and iconographic studies of Han’s Boshanlu, but also the cultural, historical (domestically and internationally), and religious background of Baekje that led to the production of the Baekje’s incense burner was studied, hoping to provide additional evidence for production of Baekje Gilt-bronze incense burner.
