In this work, numerical modeling and assessment of the dispersion of pollutants as a result of a chemical reaction from the activities of the Ekibastuz SDPP-1 was considered. The simulation was done on a valid thermal power plant. At the same time, to model the dispersion of pollutants NO, NO 2 and CO were used, and the products NO 2 , HNO 3 and CO 2 from a chemical reaction with oxygen were also considered. The validation of the mathematical model, taking into account the chemical reaction, was carried out using several test problems and the obtained numerical results were compared with experimental data and numerical data of other authors. So in this work, estimates of the concentration level were given, both for pollutants and for products that were formed from a chemical reaction. As a result, the mass fractions of concentration and product were determined during a chemical reaction for various distances from chimneys. According to the data obtained, it can be noticed that, under the influence of diffusion, concentrations and products during a chemical reaction spread wider in width and due to this diffusion, the concentration level with an increase in the distance from the chimneys is lower. So, according to the data obtained, it is possible to assess the choice of the optimal distance of the thermal power plant from residential areas, at which the concentration of emissions and products from a chemical reaction will remain at a safe level.

Dielectric elastomers are widely used in many fields due to their advantages of high deformability, light weight, biological compatibility, and high efficiency. In this study, the stochastic dynamic response and bifurcation of a dielectric elastomer balloon (DEB) with viscoelasticity are investigated. Firstly, the rheological model is adopted to describe the viscoelasticity of the DEB, and the dynamic model is deduced by using the free energy method. The effect of viscoelasticity on the state of equilibrium with static pressure and voltage is analysed. Then, the stochastic differential equation about the perturbation around the state of equilibrium is derived when the DEB is under random pressure and static voltage. The steady-state probability densities of the perturbation stretch ratio are determined by the generalized cell mapping method. The effects of parameter conditions on the mean value of the perturbation stretch ratio are calculated. Finally, sinusoidal voltage and random pressure are applied to the viscoelastic DEB, and the phenomenon of P-bifurcation is observed. Our results are compared with those obtained from Monte Carlo simulation to verify their accuracy. This work provides a potential theoretical reference for the design and application of DEs.

The phenomena of unsteady magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) natural convection flow in an inclined square cavity filled with nanofluid and containing a heated circular obstacle at its center with heat generation/absorption impact are examined numerically. The cavity’s right and left walls are maintained at low temperatures, while the remaining walls are adiabatic. The volumetric external force, MHD, is applied across the inclined cavity. A penalty formulation-based finite element method is used to solve the nonlinear set of governing equations iteratively. The numerical scheme and results are validated through a comparison with the benchmark results, and it shows that our solutions are in good agreement with them. The results are shown in terms of contours of streamlines, isotherms, and average Nusselt number. It is observed that MHD alters the streamlines, isotherms, and average Nusselt number and dominates the flow as compared to any other physical parameter. The average Nusselt number is found sensitive to the central obstacle’s size, and it reduces sufficiently when the radius of the inner cylinder increases. For all the parameters, the streamlines’ symmetric pattern holds, such that the anti-clockwise cells on the left side of the cavity have their symmetric clockwise cells on the right side.

In the present paper, fractional-order generalized Legendre wavelets (FOGLWs) are introduced. We apply the FOGLWs for solving fractional Riccati differential equation. By using the hypergeometric function, we obtain an exact formula for the Riemann–Liouville fractional integral operator (RLFIO) of the FOGLWs. By using this exact formula and the properties of the FOGLWs, we reduce the solution of the fractional Riccati differential equation to the solution of an algebraic system. This algebraic system can be solved effectively. This method gives very accurate results. The given numerical examples support this claim.

This article is devoted to propose and investigate the fractal battery discharging model, which is one of the well-known models with a memory effect. It is presented as to how non-locality affects the behavior of solutions and how the current state of the system is affected by its past. Firstly, we present a local fractal solution. Then we solve the non-local fractal differential equation and examine the memory effect that includes the Mittag-Leffler function with one parameter. For that aim, the local fractal and non-local fractal Laplace transforms are used to achieve fractional solutions. In addition, the simulation analysis is performed by comparing the underlying fractal derivatives to the classical ones in order to understand the significance of the results. The effects of the fractal parameter and the fractional parameter are discussed in the conclusion section.

This paper studies the trajectory tracking control problem of second-order underactuated system subject to system uncertainties and prescribed performance constraints. By combining radial basis function neural networks (RBFNNs) with input–output linearization methods, an adaptive neural network-based control approach is proposed and the adaptive laws are given through Lyapunov method and Taylor expansion linearization approach. The main contributions of this paper are that: (1) by introducing weight performance function and transformation function, the states never violate the prescribed performance constraints; (2) the control scheme takes the unknown control gain direction into consideration and the singular problem of control design can be avoided; (3) through rigorously stability analysis, all signal of closed-loop system are proved to be uniformly ultimately bounded. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme was verified by comparative simulation.

In this article, a mathematical model is proposed to assess the effects of media awareness on dengue eradication programs. First, the existence and local stability of equilibrium points are discussed using the concept of the basic reproduction number. Using the center-manifold theorem, it is shown that the proposed model always undergoes a forward bifurcation at the basic reproduction number equal to unity. It is observed that the high-intensity media awareness could reduce the size of the endemic equilibrium. Based on local sensitivity analysis, we identify the three most sensitive parameters, namely the natural death rate of mosquito ( μ v ), infection rates ( β h 1 , β v 1 ), and hospitalization rate ( η ). Hence, control variables need to be introduced to increase/reduce these parameters. In this article, we use three different control variables, namely the media campaign, ( u 1 ( t )), to reduce infection rates, additional hospitalization rate, ( u 2 ( t )), and fumigation rate, ( u 3 ( t )), to increase mosquitoes death rate. Pontryagin’s maximum principle is used to determine the optimal conditions. Some numerical simulations are performed to describe a possible scenario in the field. Cost effectiveness analysis is then conducted to determine the best strategy for the dengue eradication program. We conclude that a combination of media campaigns and fumigation is the most effective strategy to prevent a significant increase in the number of infected individuals.

This paper addresses a spectral collocation technique to treat the stochastic Volterra–Fredholm integral equations (SVF-IEs). The shifted Legendre–Gauss–Radau collocation (SL-GR-C) method is developed for approximating the FSV-IDEs. The principal target in our technique is to transform the SVF-IEs to a system of algebraic equations. For computational purposes, the Brownian motion W ( x ) is discretized by Lagrange interpolation. While the integral terms are interpolated by Legendre–Gauss–Lobatto quadrature. Some numerical examples are given to test the accuracy and applicability of our technique. Also, an error analysis is introduced for the proposed method.

This paper deals with the stochastic Zika virus model within the human and mosquito population. Firstly, we prove that there exists a global positive solution. Further, we found the condition for a viral infection to be extinct. Besides that, we discuss the existence of a unique ergodic stationary distribution through a suitable Lyapunov function. The stationary distribution validates the occurrence of infection in the population. From that, we obtain the threshold value for prevail and disappear of disease within the population. Through the numerical simulations, we have verified the reproduction ratio R 0 S ${R}_{0}^{S}$ as stated in our theoretical findings.

A deterministic model is developed to study the dynamics of poliomyelitis virus infection with vaccination in a population with insanitary conditions. The polio-free equilibrium is shown to be locally asymptotically stable whenever the basic reproduction number is less than one but global stability requires other conditions to be satisfied. The spread of the disease is also shown to be sensitive to the average contact rate with the faecal matter of the infectious individuals, the transmission probability, natural death rate and vaccination, probabilities of the exposed individuals progressing to the non-paralytic and paralytic classes, the open defecation parameter and the polio-induced death rate. Other interesting results are illustrated through numerical simulation of the model.

We develop a solution to the problem of the behavior of a tower crane considered as a deformable system, and therefore subject to vibrations, whereas the controlled movement of a payload is implemented. The motion of the payload is calculated taking into account the normal vibration modes of the tower crane and the swaying of the payload. A “command smoothing” method relative to an open-loop system is used for reducing the sway of the payload, through smoothing the original command by the crane operator. This leads, as a consequence, to a reduction in the vibrations of the crane structure. An iterative calculation of the sway angle and the corresponding applied velocity profiles as input to the crane motors is applied. The tower crane is considered as a high nonlinear underactuated system; it is modeled considering the possible deformation of the structure. The results relating to the normal deformations of the crane are obtained, highlighting how these vibrations are strongly attenuated when an anti-sway system for the payload is implemented. Therefore, it is shown how this control leads to the best results in terms of performance for both the payload movement (shortest possible profile for the rotation movement and damping of the load oscillation) and the structure of the tower crane. Applying the method described in this paper, the structure of the tower crane does not undergo the strong horizontal and vertical oscillations that occur when the elastic structure is not considered in the crane model.

The time-fractional generalized biological population model and the (2, 2, 2) Zakharov–Kuznetsov (ZK) equation are significant modeling equations to analyse biological population, ion-acoustic waves in plasma, electromagnetic waves, viscoelasticity waves, material science, probability and statistics, signal processing, etc. The new generalized G ′ / G $\left({G}^{\prime }/G\right)$ -expansion method is consistent, computer algebra friendly, worthwhile through yielding closed-form general soliton solutions in terms of trigonometric, rational and hyperbolic functions associated to subjective parameters. For the definite values of the parameters, some well-established and advanced solutions are accessible from the general solution. The solutions have been analysed by means of diagrams to understand the intricate internal structures. It can be asserted that the method can be used to compute solitary wave solutions to other fractional nonlinear differential equations by means of fractional complex transformation.

Online learning is a classical algorithm for optimization problems. Due to its low computational cost, it has been widely used in many aspects of machine learning and statistical learning. Its convergence performance depends heavily on the step size. In this paper, a two-stage step size is proposed for the unregularized online learning algorithm, based on reproducing Kernels. Theoretically, we prove that, such an algorithm can achieve a nearly min–max convergence rate, up to some logarithmic term, without any capacity condition.

A simple SIS-type mathematical model of infection expansion is presented and analysed with focus on the case SARS-Cov-2. It takes into account two processes, namely, infection and recovery/decease characterised by two parameters in total: contact rate and recovery/decease rate. Its solution has a form of a quasi-logistic function for which we have introduced an infection index that, should it become negative, can also be considered as a recovery/decease index with decrease of infected down to zero. Based on the data from open sources for the SARS-Cov-2 pandemic, seasonal influenza epidemics and a pandemic in the fauna world, a threshold value of the infection index has been shown to exist above which an infection expansion pretends to be considered as pandemic. Lean (two-parameter) SIR models affined with the warning SIS model have been built. Their general solutions have been obtained, analysed and shown to be a priori structurally adjusted to the infectives’ peak in epidemiological data.

The Hirota bilinear method is prepared for searching the diverse soliton solutions to the (2+1)-dimensional Kadomtsev–Petviashvili–Benjamin–Bona–Mahony (KP-BBM) equation. Also, the Hirota bilinear method is used to find the lump and interaction with two stripe soliton solutions. Interaction among lumps, periodic waves, and one-kink soliton solutions are investigated. Also, the solitary wave, periodic wave, and cross-kink wave solutions are examined for the KP-BBM equation. The graphs for various parameters are plotted to contain a 3D plot, contour plot, density plot, and 2D plot. We construct the exact lump and interaction among other types of solutions, by solving the underdetermined nonlinear system of algebraic equations with the associated parameters. Finally, analysis and graphical simulation are presented to show the dynamical characteristics of our solutions, and the interaction behaviors are revealed. The existing conditions are employed to discuss the available got solutions.

This paper is concerned with the existence and global exponential stability of the periodic solution of delayed Cohen–Grossberg neural networks (CGNNs) with discontinuous activation functions. The activations considered herein are non-decreasing but not required to be Lipschitz or continuous. Based on differential inclusion theory, Lyapunov functional theory and Leary–Schauder alternative theorem, some sufficient criteria are derived to ensure the existence and global exponential stability of the periodic solution. In order to show the superiority of the obtained results, an application and some detailed comparisons between some existing related results and our results are presented. Finally, some numerical examples are also illustrated.

Many optimal order multiple root techniques, which use derivatives in the algorithm, have been proposed in literature. Many researchers tried to construct an optimal family of derivative-free methods for multiple roots, but they did not get success in this direction. With this as a motivation factor, here, we present a new optimal class of derivative-free methods for obtaining multiple roots of nonlinear functions. This procedure involves Traub–Steffensen iteration in the first step and Traub–Steffensen-like iteration in the second step. Efficacy is checked on a good number of relevant numerical problems that verifies the efficient convergent nature of the new methods. Moreover, we find that the new derivative-free methods are just as competent as the other existing robust methods that use derivatives.

In this paper, a numerical simulation of air pollution and the particles distribution in idealized urban canyons with aspect ratio 1 for various thermal conditions was considered. To solve the problem, the RANS equations were used, while various turbulent models were used to close this system of equations. To validate of the mathematical model was solved the test problem in isothermal condition numerically. The various turbulent models results were compared with empirical and modeling results. The main problem was described as the pollutants emission process and particles between houses using various grass barrier types under different temperature regimes. The results of computational simulation without grass barrier were compared with the calculated values using different types of grass barriers. In the course of various studies, it was found that the existence of barriers along the streets reduces the concentration of harmful substances and the concentration of particles in the air. Increasing the thermal value for a roadside barrier reduces deposition and dispersion of pollutants.

In this research, we explore the dynamics of Caudrey–Dodd–Gibbon–Sawada–Kotera equations in (1 + 1)-dimension, such as N -soliton, and breather solutions. First, a logarithmic variable transform based on the Hirota bilinear method is defined, and then one, two, three and N -soliton solutions are constructed. A breather solution to the equation is also retrieved via N -soliton solutions. All the solutions that have been obtained are novel and plugged into the equation to guarantee their existence. 2-D, 3-D, contour plot and density plot are also presented.

In this article, we address the delay-dependent robust stability of uncertain fractional order neutral-type (FONT) systems with distributed delays, nonlinear perturbations, and input saturation. With the aid of the Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional, criteria on asymptotic robust stability of FONT, expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities, are constructed to compute the state-feedback controller gains. The controller gains are determined subject to maximizing the domain of attraction via the cone complementarity linearization algorithm. The theoretical results are validated using numerical simulations.

In this paper, based on the Hirota bilinear form and the extended transformed rational function method, complexiton solutions have been found of the Hirota–Satsuma–Ito (HSI) equation and generalized Calogero–Bogoyavlenskii–Schiff equation through a direct symbolic computation with Maple. This method is the improved form of the transformed rational function method. The obtained complexiton solutions, includes trigonometric and hyperbolic trigonometric solutions, have verified utilizing Hirota bilinear forms. Also, a graphical representation of the obtained solutions is given.

An inverse methodology is proposed to estimate a time-varying heat transfer coefficient (HTC) for a hollow cylinder with time-dependent boundary conditions of different kinds on inner and outer surfaces. The temperatures at both the inner surface and the interior domain are measured for the hollow cylinder, while the time history of HTC of the outer surface will be inversely determined. This work first expressed the unknown function of HTC in a general form with unknown coefficients, and then regarded these unknown coefficients as the estimated parameters which can be randomly searched and found by the self-learning particle swarm optimization (SLPSO) method. The objective function which wants to be minimized was found with the absolute errors between the measured and estimated temperatures at several measurement times. If the objective function converges toward the null, the inverse solution of the estimated HTC will be found eventually. From numerical experiments, when the function of HTC with exponential type is performed, the unknown coefficients of the HTC function can be accurately estimated. On the contrary, when the function of HTC with a general type is conducted, the unknown coefficients of HTC are poorly estimated. However, the estimated coefficients of an HTC function with the general type can be regarded as the equivalent coefficients for the real function of HTC.

The study of the chaotic dynamics in fractional-order discrete-time systems has received great attention in the past years. In this paper, we propose a new 2D fractional map with the simplest algebraic structure reported to date and with an infinite line of equilibrium. The conceived map possesses an interesting property not explored in literature so far, i.e., it is characterized, for various fractional-order values, by the coexistence of various kinds of periodic, chaotic and hyper-chaotic attractors. Bifurcation diagrams, computation of the maximum Lyapunov exponents, phase plots and 0–1 test are reported, with the aim to analyse the dynamics of the 2D fractional map as well as to highlight the coexistence of initial-boosting chaotic and hyperchaotic attractors in commensurate and incommensurate order. Results show that the 2D fractional map has an infinite number of coexistence symmetrical chaotic and hyper-chaotic attractors. Finally, the complexity of the fractional-order map is investigated in detail via approximate entropy.

A combined fourth-order (2 + 1)-dimensional nonlinear partial differential equation which contains four fourth-order nonlinear terms and all second-order linear terms is formulated. This equation covers three generalized KP, Hirota–Satsuma–Ito, and Calogero–Bogoyavlenskii–Schiff equations as examples, which have physical applications in the study of various nonlinear phenomena in nature. In terms of some settings of the coefficients, a class of lump solutions is constructed by the Hirota bilinear method and the solutions are calculated through the symbolic computation system of Maple. Meanwhile, the relation between the coefficients and the solution is explored. Two special lump solutions are generated by taking proper values for the involved coefficients and parameters, and their dynamic behaviors are studied, as illustrative examples. The primary advantage of the Hirota bilinear method is to transform a nonlinear equation into a bilinear one so that the targeted equation can be easily studied.

In the present work, we give a description of a quantum motion controller to be used in automatic machines for an automated process, especially in packaging machines. The entanglement properties of the quantum systems are applied to have a perfect synchronization among the N slave axes. A detailed description of an architecture for a quantum motion controller is given. A quantum correction unit, included in the quantum motion control device and based on quantum inference, is also defined and described. The paper describes the characteristics of the robust control in the quantum correction unit. A comparison with traditional motion controllers is established showing the improved performances relative to the jitter compensation.
