Über 110 000 EU-Veröffentlichungen mit insgesamt zwölf Millionen Seiten wurden durch das Amt für Veröffentlichungen der EU digitalisiert und können jetzt aus der digitalen Bibliothek des EU-Bookshops (<www.bookshop.europa.eu>) kostenlos heruntergeladen werden. Dieser Dienst, der am 16. Oktober 2009 auf der Frankfurter Buchmesse vorgestellt wurde, bietet der Öffentlichkeit Zugriff auf alle Titel, die seit 1952 vom Amt für Veröffentlichungen im Namen der Institutionen, Agenturen und sonstigen Einrichtungen der EU herausgegeben wurden. 12 million pages in more than 110 000 EU publications have been digitized by the EU Publications Office and are now hosted free of charge downloads in the EU Bookshop Website (<www.bookshop.europa.eu>). Launched at the Frankfurt Book Fair on 16 October 2009, it offers all publications edited by the Publications Office on behalf of the EU institutions, agencies and other bodies since 1952. La digitalisation par l'Office des publications de l'Union européenne de 12 millions de pages permet de mettre gratuitement plus de 110 000 publications de l'Union à disposition en vue de leur téléchargement dans la bibliothèque numérique de la librairie européenne (<www.bookshop.europa.eu>). Lancée dans le cadre de la Foire du livre de Francfort le 16 octobre 2009, elle propose toutes les publications éditées par l'Office des publications pour le compte des institutions, agences et autres organismes communautaires depuis 1952.

The Global Libraries Initiative at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation works to improve people's lives in developing and transitioning countries through useful, used, and sustainable public access to information and technology in public libraries. Given the important role libraries play in bridging information inequities, GL works to catalyze changes to have far-reaching effects, spreading the benefits to libraries everywhere. Die Globale Bibliotheksinitiative der Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation möchte das Leben der Menschen in den Entwicklungs-und Schwellenländern durch nützlichen, genutzten und nachhaltigen öffentlichen Zugang zu Information und Technologie in öffentlichen Bibliotheken verbessern. Angesichts der wichtigen Rolle, die Bibliotheken beim Brückenschlag von Differenzen in der Informiertheit spielen, arbeitet die Globale Bibliotheksinitiative daran, die Veränderungen zu katalysieren um weit reichende Wirkungen zu erreichen, indem sie überall Bibliotheken unterstützt. L'initiative globale pour les bibliothèques de la Fondation Bill & Melinda Gates a pour but d'améliorer la vie des gens dans les pays en voie de développement ou d'émergence par un accès publique utile, utilisé et durable aux informations et à la technologie. Étant donné le rôle important que les bibliothèques jouent en surmontant les inégalités d'information, la Fondation travaille à catalyser les changements afin d'obtenir des effets de longue durée tout en soutenant des bibliothèques partout.

Die Japanerinnen und Japaner lieben Handyromane. In Europa fing die Bewegung um das Jahr 2007 an. Der Handyroman wird auf dem mobilen Gerät gespeichert und in allen möglichen Situationen gelesen, etwa bei der Fahrt zur Arbeit oder zur Schule bzw. Hochschule. Der vorliegende Beitrag gibt eine Einführung in das Phänomen der Handyromane, nennt wissenschaftliche Literatur aus dem und für den deutschsprachigen Raum und skizziert Anforderungen an künftige wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen. Dann werden Handyromane des Verfassers vorgestellt und im Ansatz analysiert. Eine Darstellung der bisherigen medialen Rezeption schließt zusammen mit einem Ausblick den Beitrag ab. Japanese love mobile phone novels. In Europe the drive started about 2007. The mobile phone novel is stored in the mobile device and read in all possible situations, e.g. during the way to work or to school or university. The present contribution gives an introduction into the phenomenon of mobile phone novels, cites the scholarly literature from and for the German speaking area and outlines the request for future scientific investigations. Some mobile phone novels by the author are presented and analyzed. A presentation of the hitherto media reception concludes the contribution together with a perspective. Les japonais adorent les romans pour téléphone mobile. Le mouvement commençait en Europe vers l'an 2007. Le roman est enrégistré sur l'appareil mobile et puis lu dans toutes les situations possibles, p. e. en route vers le travail ou l'école ou l'université. La présente communication donne une introduction ai phénomène du roman pour mobiles, cite la littérature scientifique de et pour l'espace de langue allemande, et esquisse les exigences aux futurs recherches scientifiques. Puis on présente des romans pour mobiles de l'auteur et offre une première analyse. Une présentation de l'accueil dans les médias conclut l'article ensemble avec une perspective.

„Weil sie höchst kreativ und flexibel immer wieder neue Angebote und Produkte entwickelt und konsequent an die Bedürfnisse ihrer Kunden anpasst“ erhielt das Medien- und Informationszentrum Stadtbücherei Biberach am 24.10.2009 den einzigen nationalen Bibliothekspreis „Bibliothek des Jahres 2009“. Welche Angebote sind das und wie organisiert das Team einer kleinen Mittelstadtbibliothek diese innovative Dynamik über Jahre hinweg? Teamchef Frank Raumel berichtet. „Due to the fact that the library is highly creative and flexible, develops again and again new offers and products customized at the needs of its clients” the media and information centre of the Public Library Biberach received the only national library award „Library of the Year 2009“ on 24-10-2009. What are the offers and how the team of a small medium town public library organizes this innovative dynamic about years? The team chef Frank Raumel reports. «Puisque la bibliothèque développe sans cesse d'une manière créative et flexible des offres et produits nouveaux qu'elle adapte conséquemment aux besoins de ses clients» le Centre de média et de l'information de la Bibliothèque publique de Biberach a reçu le 24-10-2009 le seul prix de bibliothèque national «Bibliothèque de l'année 2009». Quels offres sont faits et comment l'équipe d'une bibliothèque d'une petite ville moyenne organise cette dynamique innovative au-delà des années? Le chef de l'équipe Frank Raumel en rapporte.

Seit 2008 stehen zur Unterstützung der Provenienzrecherche und -forschung in Museen, Bibliotheken, Archiven und anderen öffentlich unterhaltenen Kulturgut bewahrenden Einrichtungen in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland jährlich Fördermittel in Höhe von einer Million Euro aus dem Haushalt des Beauftragten der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien zur Verfügung. Im gleichen Jahr nahm die Arbeitsstelle für Provenienzrecherche/-forschung am Institut für Museumsforschung der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin – Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz ihre Tätigkeit auf. Die Arbeitsstelle führt das Verfahren zur Vergabe dieser Fördermittel durch. From 2008 onwards, funds totalling one million Euros will be assigned each year by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media to supporting the investigation and study of the provenance of cultural artefacts in German public collections. The Bureau for Provenance Investigation/Research was established in the same year. This office allocates the funds to individual projects. Dès 2008, chaque année un fonds d'un million d'Euros du budget du délégué du gouvernement fédéral pour la culture et les médias est disponible pour promouvoir la recherche de provenance dans les musées, bibliothèques, archives et d'autres institutions publiques gardant des biens culturels en République fédérale. La même année le Bureau de la recherche de provenance à l'Institut de recherche de musée des Musées de l'État de Berlin – Fondation des possessions culturelles de Prusse entama le travail. Le bureau dirige la procédure d'allocation des moyens.

Seit 2004 engagiert sich die Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin – Preußischer Kulturbesitz mit zunehmender Intensität im Bereich der Erforschung und Erschließung von Provenienzen. Von besonderer Bedeutung sind dabei die Ermittlung, Dokumentation und Restitution von NS-Raubgut und gleichzeitig die Analyse des institutionellen Kontexts, der administrativen Prozesse und Verteilungswege für geraubte Bücher. Derzeit gibt es in der Abteilung Historische Drucke zwei Projekte zu NS-Raubgut im Druckschriftenbestand der Staatsbibliothek und zur Rolle der Reichstauschstelle, die von der Thyssen-Stiftung und der Arbeitsstelle für Provenienzrecherche/-forschung gefördert werden bzw. wurden.   Since 2004 the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin – Preußischer Kulturbesitz has been increasingly involved with provenance research and indexing. Of particular importance are the identification, documentation and restitution of Nazi-looted property and at the same time the analysis of the institutional context, the administrative processes and the distribution channels of looted books. At present two relevant projects are in progress at the Department of Early Printed Books concerning firstly Nazi-looted property in the collections of printed books at the State Library and secondly the role of the „Reichstauschstelle“. These projects are sponsored by the Thyssen Foundation and the Office for Provenance Research.   Depuis 2004 la Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin – Preußischer Kulturbesitz contribue de plus en plus activement au champ de la recherche et de l'indexation des provenances. Dans ce contexte toutes les activités aidant à rechercher, documenter et restituer des biens volés par les nationaux-socialistes sont d'une importance primordiale. En même temps il faut analyser le context institutionnel ainsi que les processus administratifs et les voies de distribution des livres volés. Actuellement le Département des Livres Anciens mène deux projets dans ce contexte. Le premier projet s'occupe de livres volés qui pourraient se trouver dans les collections de la Staatsbibliothek , tandis que le deuxième projet examine le rôle de la Reichstauschstelle. Les deux projets sont subventionnés par la Fondation Thyssen et l'Office pour la recherche des provenances.

Das seit einigen Jahren laufende Projekt in der Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin widmet sich der Aktenrecherche, der Bestandsdurchsicht und der Suche nach Eigentümern bzw. deren Nachfahren. 1943 hatte die Vorgängerinstitution, die Berliner Stadtbibliothek, zahlreiche Bücher übernommen, die vor der Deportation Juden geraubt worden waren. Einige sind im Bestand bereits identifiziert. Weitere Forschungen sind notwendig, denn auch nach 1945 sind über die so genannte „Bergungsstelle“ Raubgutbestände in die Bibliothek gelangt. In the focus of the project of the Central and Regional Library Berlin are the research of archival documents, the review of the book collection and the search for owners or their descendants. In 1943, the predecessor institution, the „Berlin City Library“ bought numerous books of Jewish owners which had been stolen before their deportation. Two years ago some have already been identified in the collection. Further research is necessary, because even after 1945 such books came to the library from the so called „Bergungsstelle“. Le projet en cours depuis quelques années à la Bibliothèque centrale et régionale de Berlin se consacre à la recherche d'actes, la révision des fonds et la recherche de propriétaires respectivement des descendents. En 1943, l'institution précédente, la Bibliothèque municipale de Berlin, a accepté de nombreux livres volés aux juifs avant la déportation. Quelques-uns ont été identifiés dans les fonds. D'autres rechrches s'imposent, parce que même après 1945 d'autres objets volés sont arrivés à la bibliothèque via le «service de sauvetage».

Das zunächst als reine Recherche von Büchern mit Provenienz aus der Privatbibliothek Agathe Laschs konzipierte Projekt entwickelte sich schnell zu einer umfassenden Aufarbeitung der unrechtmäßigen Beschaffung, bei der Stationen des Weges der Zerschlagung der Bibliothek durch die Nationalsozialisten nachgezeichnet wurden. Teile der Sammlung der Germanistin konnten rekonstruiert und ein Kontakt zu den Nachkommen Agathe Laschs im Zuge der Restitutionsbemühungen hergestellt werden. The initially as a mere book search for the remainders of Agathe Lasch's library conceptualized project soon developed into a major effort to clarify the ruthless circumstances of their way into the University Library and of the dissolving of Lasch's collection in the first place. Parts of that collection could be secured, and in the process of restitution contact was established with Agathe Lasch's family. Le projet d'abord conçu d'abord comme simple recherche de livres provenant de la bibliothèque privée d'Agathe Lasch se développait vite vers une ample enquête de l'acquisition illégale où l'on pouvait retracer des stations du chemin de la destruction de la bibliothèque par les nazis. On pouvait reconstituer des parties de la collection de la germaniste et on a noué des contacts avec les descendants d'Agathe Lasch dans le contexte des efforts de restitution.

Die Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Bremen war die erste Bibliothek in Deutschland, die 1991 mit der systematischen Beforschung ihres Bestandes auf NS-Raubgut begann. Rund 1 600 Titel konnten als NS-Raubgut bzw. raubgutverdächtig identifiziert werden. Bis heute konnten 290 Bücher an die rechtmäßigen Eigentümer bzw. deren Erben restituiert werden. Alle Bücher sind seit 2009 in einem eigenen Online-Katalog recherchierbar. The State and University Library Bremen was the first German library that started with a systematic tracing of NS looted art within its collection in 1991. Around 1 600 titles were identified as being suspected or being NS looted art. Until today 290 books were returned to their rightful owner or their legal heirs. All titles can be retrieved via a separate online catalogue which was released in 2009. La Bibliothèque d'État et universitaire de Brême fut la première bibliothèque en Allemagne, qui en 1991 lançât la recherche systématique des livres volés par les nazis dans ses fonds. Environs 1 600 titres ont été identifiés de livres volés ou probablement volés. Jusqu'aujourd'hui 290 livres pouvaient être restitués aux propriétaires légitimes ou à leurs héritiers. Depuis 2009, tous les livres peuvent être recherchés dans un catalogue propre en ligne.

Die Niedersächsische Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen sucht in ihren Beständen nach Raub- und Beutebüchern aus der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus. Dazu werden alle Büchereingänge von 1933 bis 1950 systematisch überprüft. Ziel ist es, unrechtmäßig erworbene Bücher zu restituieren, Verdachtsfälle öffentlich zu machen und die Geschichte der Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen zur Zeit des Nationalsozialismus aufzuarbeiten. Im vorliegenden Beitrag werden die für die Aufarbeitung notwendigen Arbeitsschritte vorgestellt und erste Ergebnisse aufgezeigt. Goettingen State and University Library is actually seeking in its collections for books looted during the time of National Socialism. For this purpose all accesses from 1933 to 1950 will be thoroughly surveyed. Primary objective is the restitution of illigetimately acquired books. Suspected cases will be publicized and, moreover, the history of the university library during Nazism will be researched. The article presents the work-flow of the research project besides first results. La Bibliothèque d'État et universitaire de Göttingen recherche dans ses fonds les livres volés du temps du national-socialisme. On dépouille systématiquement tous les livres d'acquisition de 1933 à 1950. Le but en est de restituer les livres acquis de façon illégale, de publier les cas douteux, et de rechercher l'histoire de la bibliothèque au temps du nazisme. On présente dans l'article les différents étapes nécessaires et les premiers résultats.

Seit 1999 bzw. 2005 durchsucht die Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Hamburg Carl von Ossietzky ihre Bestände systematisch nach NS-verfolgungsbedingt entzogenem Kulturgut und verzeichnet und dokumentiert die Ergebnisse im Opac. Zusätzlich wurden 2008 erste Ergebnisse der Projektarbeit in einer Ausstellung präsentiert. Seit 2009 finanziert die Arbeitsstelle für Provenienzforschung die Stelle eines wissenschaftlichen Mitarbeiters als Unterstützung des Projektteams der Staatsbibliothek. Since 1999 respectively 2005, the Hamburg State and University Library Carl von Ossietzky is searching its stock systematically for nazi-looted cultural property, recording the results in its opac. In 2008, first results of the Nazi-loot project have been introduced to the public in an exhibition. Thanks to the financial support that the library is receiving from the Arbeitsstelle für Provenienzforschung since 2009, the project team has been reinforced by a scientific assistant. C'est à partir de 1999 respectivement de 2005 que la Bibliothèque d'État et universitaire «Carl von Ossietzky» de Hambourg mène des investigations systématiques dans ses dépôts concernant des biens culturels enlevés en suite de persécutions par les nazis, enregistre les résultats et les documents dans l'opac. En plus, les premiers résultats et les documents furent présentés lors d'une exposition en 2008. Depuis 2009 l'unité de travail pour la recherche de provenances finance le poste d'un chercheur scientifique pour soutenir l'équipe du projet de la Bibliothèque d'État.

Elise und Helene Richter, zwei angesehene Philologinnen aus Wien, verkauften 1941 Teile ihrer Privatbibliothek an die Universitäts- und Stadtbibliothek Köln. Die zu diesem Zeitpunkt bereits betagten Damen wurden 1942 nach Theresienstadt deportiert, wo sie alsbald umkamen. In den Jahren 2005-2009 rekonstruierte die USB Köln die Bibliothek der Schwestern, stellte sie in einem eigenen Portal dar und dokumentierte die Geschichte der beiden Frauen und des NS-verfolgungsbedingt entzogenen Kulturgutes. The two famous philologists Elise and Helene Richter sold their library to the University Library of Cologne in 1941. The aged ladies were deported to Theresienstadt [Terezin] in 1942 where they died a few weeks / months later. The USB reconstructed their library in 2005-2009. The history of these women and their lootet books were also documentated. En 1941, les deux philologues réputées Elise et Helene Richter vendaient des parties de leur bibliothèque privée à la Bibliothèque universitaire de Cologne. En 1942, les deux dames étaient déjà âgées, elles furent déportées à Theresienstadt où elles mouraient bientôt. Pendant les années 2005-2009 la BU de Cologne reconstituait la bibliothèque des deux soeurs, la présentait dans un portal propre et documentait l'histoire des deux femmes et leurs biens culturels retirés par les nazis.

Durch Fördermittel des Bundes (Arbeitsstelle für Provenienzrecherche/-forschung) unterstützt läuft an der Universitätsbibliothek Leipzig seit September 2009 das Projekt „NS-Raubgut an der Universitätsbibliothek Leipzig“. Rund 6 000 Titel, die durch im Archiv der Universitätsbibliothek befindliche Akten als beschlagnahmt gelten können, werden in der auf ein Jahr angelegten Arbeit erfasst, Provenienzen eruiert und Restitutionen vorbereitet. Since September 2009, a project is under way at Leipzig University Library, researching holdings which came into the library during the NS period. Sponsored by federal funds, the 12-months-project “NS-Raubgut an der Universitätsbibliothek Leipzig“ will pay special attention to about 6 000 titles singled out by documents in the archives of the university library. Wherever possible, previous ownership will be established and restitutions prepared. Depuis septembre 2009, un projet de 12 mois se réalise à la bibliothèque de l‘université de Leipzig recherchant environ 6 000 titres ajoutés pendant la période du national-socialisme. Soutenu par des moyens du gouvernement fédéral, le projet „NS-Raubgut an der Universitätsbibliothek Leipzig“ départ des documents conservés aux archives de la bibliothèque universitaire. Il vise à déterminer des provenances exactes et à préparer des restitutions, si possible.

Anlass für die Recherche waren zwei jiddische Drucke, die als Lieferung des Oberbürgermeisteramtes Rostock im Sommer 1942 in die Bibliothek kamen. Im Rahmen studentischer Praktika werden die Zugangsbücher bis 1950 überprüft. Die Datenbank verdächtiger Bestände enthält derzeit ca. 1 650 relevante Bände. Anzeichen für jüdische Vorbesitzer aus Rostock gibt es bisher nicht, jedoch konkrete Hinweise auf Emigranten aus anderen Städten, die näher zu prüfen sind. Two Yiddish books that were sent to the library with a group of 180 volumes gave cause for the current investigation. With the help of very committed students the accession books up to the year 1950 are checked. The database of suspicious books presently contains about 1 650 volumes. Until today there are no signs for previous Jewish owners from Rostock, but indications pointing to emigrants from other towns are to be followed. Deux imprimés yiddisch donna lieu à la recherche que la mairie de Rostock expédia en été 1942 à la bibliothèque. Les livres d'acquisition jusqu'en 1950 sont contrôlés dans le cadre des travaux pratiques d'étudiants. La banque de données de fonds suspects contient actuellement environ 1 650 volumes. Des indices d'anciens propriétaires juifs de Rostock n'existent pas jusqu'alors, mais bien des indications à des émigrés d'autres villes qu'il faut vérifier.

Im Mai 2007 wurde an der Universitätsbibliothek der Medizinischen Universität Wien ein Projekt der NS-Provenienzforschung an historischen Medizinbibliotheken in Wien gestartet. Ziel ist die Identifizierung jener Bücher aus dem historischen Bestand der Wiener medizinischen Bibliotheken, die zwischen 1938 und 1945 gestohlen und an die medizinischen Institute und Kliniken verkauft worden sind, sowie deren Restitution an die rechtmäßigen Eigentümer. Bisher wurde ca. die Hälfte des zu untersuchenden Bestandes (Erscheinungsjahr vor 1945) überprüft. In 252 Fällen wurden Bücher als eindeutig geraubt identifiziert. Diese Bücher stammen aus dem Besitz von 34 Personen und Institutionen. Since May 2007 the University Library of the Medical University Vienna has run a project of provenance research. Its target is to register and restore books of the historical stock of the Viennice medical libraries, which were stolen between 1938 and 1945 and bought by medical instituts and clinics, to their rightful owners. Until now about fifty percent of the books of these libraries, printed before 1945, have been scrutinized: In 252 cases books definitely could be identified as expropriated by the Nazi-regime. Those books came from the property of 34 persons and institutions. En mai 2007 un projet de recherches des provenances des biens culturels enlevés par les nazis fut commencé à la Bibliothèque universitaire de l'Université médicale de Vienne. Le but est l'identification et la restitution des livres provenant du fond des bibliothèques médicales historiques viennoises qui ont été volé entre 1938 et 1945 et qui furent vendus aux instituts et cliniques médicaux, aux propriétaires légitimes. Jusqu'à présent quasi la moitié du fond à contrôler (année de parution avant 1945) a été examiné. En 252 cas des livres ont été identifiés définitivement comme volé. Ces livres provenaient de la propriété de 34 personnes et institutions.

Die Universitätsbibliothek Wien begann 2004 mit einem Provenienzforschungsprojekt, das 2006 mit einem zweiten eigenständigen Projekt erweitert wurde. Die Bestandsautopsien konnten mittlerweile abgeschlossen werden, sodass erste Ergebnisse vorliegen und bereits in einigen wenigen Fällen Restitutionen durchgeführt werden konnten. Beispielhaft wird auf den Fall Moriz Kuffner eingegangen. In 2004 Vienna University Library started a provenance research project, to which a second independent project was added in 2006. The completed autopsy of the library holdings has yielded first results and restitutions have been possible in a small number of cases. The example of Moriz Kuffner is discussed in some detail. La Bibliothèque universitaire de l`université deVienne a commencé en 2004 avec un projet de recherche de provenance, élargi en 2006 en lançant un deuxième projet à part entière. L´autopsie des fonds bibliothèque entre-temps achevée, des premiers résultats sont accessibles de sorte qu´on pouvait procéder à des restitutions dans quelques cas peu nombreux. Exemplairement, le cas de Moriz Kuffner est présenté.

In 2009, libraries in Australia have faced many challenges, as well as many opportunities. A number of conferences have brought library and information professionals together to discuss the key issues, with lobbying and advocacy driving professional and industry activities. Library education has also been in the spotlight, with some interesting national research initiatives helping the LIS sector consider the future.   2009 sahen sich die Bibliotheken in Australien vielen Herausforderungen, aber auch vielen neuen Möglichkeiten gegenüber. Eine Reihe von Konferenzen haben die Bibliotheks- und Informationsprofis zusammengeführt, um zentrale Themen zu diskutieren und dafür zu sorgen, dass sich der Berufsstand und die gesamte Branche entwickeln. Im Zentrum stand außerdem die Bibliotheksausbildung mit einigen interessanten nationalen Forschungsprojekten, die dem Bibliotheks- und Informationssektor dabei helfen werden, über die Zukunft nachzudenken.   En 2009 les bibliothèques en Australie se trouvaient en face de beaucoup de défis, mais aussi de beaucoup de possibilités nouvelles. Une série de conférences a réuni les professionnels bibliothécaires et de l'information afin de discuter des sujets centraux et de prendre soin que la profession et tout le secteur se développent. En outre la formation bibliothécaire fut au centre avec quelques projets intéressants de recherches nationaux. Ils vont aider le secteur bibliothécaire et d'information de réfléchir sur l'avenir.

Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird über aktuelle Projekte und Trends im österreichischen Bibliothekswesen berichtet; vorgestellt werden Verbund- und Kooperationsprojekte österreichischer Bibliotheken, Bauprojekte sowie Öffentlichkeits- und Verbandsarbeit. The present contribution relates about current projects and trends in Austrian librarianship. Network projects and cooperation projects are presented as well as building projects, public relation and association activities.
