Die Beherrschung von NCS stellt je nach Art des digitalen Netzwerkes und nach dessen struktureller Einbindung in den Regelkreis eine unterschiedliche Herausforderung dar. Aus dieser Sicht heraus werden die Netzwerke in Gruppen eingeteilt. Die limitierenden Effekte werden zusammengestellt, erläutert und in ihren Auswirkungen auf das Regelungsproblem analysiert. Modellierungen werden untersucht, welche es gestatten, bestimmte limitierende Effekte in den Regelungsentwurf einzubeziehen. Verschiedene spezielle Lösungsgruppen für solche Effekte werden diskutiert. Dazu gehören der Entwurf bei variablen Totzeiten und bei Paketverlusten — als jeweils einzeln auftretende Einschränkung, aber auch bei gemeinsamem Auftreten — sowie der Entwurf unter dem Einfluss von Quantisierungseffekten. Als über den reinen Regelungsentwurf hinausgehende Methode wird das Cross-Design besprochen, bei dem gleichzeitig mit dem Regelungsentwurf auch Festlegungen der Kommunikationsschicht stattfinden. Im Ausblick wird auf offene Probleme eingegangen, die zukünftige Forschungsthemen darstellen. Dealing with NCS leads to various challenges depending on the integration of the network into the control loop. Networks can be subdivided into several specific classes with respect to their limiting effects. These classes are presented and explained as well as analyzed considering their impact on control problems. Several modelling approaches are investigated that can handle limiting effects within controller design. Various specific solutions are discussed including design regarding delay and packet losses — each of them as a single effect as well as both in combination. Going beyond the pure controller design the cross design is introduced as an approach to include communication and computing constraints into the work flow. The outlook covers open-ended questions that deal with future research projects.

Based on recent results from the literature, we give an introduction on modeling, analysis, and design of networked control systems (NCS) using a jump linear system (JLS) formulation. In particular, we consider linear, discrete-time models with a packet-switched communication channel between the sensors and the controller. We assume that the packet-delay and drop-out in the channel can be modeled with independent, identically distributed random processes or Markov chains. With this assumption, we reformulate the problem as a jump system and present both stability conditions and three different controller design algorithms. These results are taken from the literature except for one controller design procedure which is new and has the advantage of giving a fast solution at the expense of higher conservatism. Finally, all design algorithms are illustrated and compared, based on a common simulation example. Dieser Artikel gibt eine Einführung in die Modellierung, Analyse und den Entwurf vernetzter Regelsysteme mithilfe schaltender Systeme. Wir betrachten lineare, zeitdiskrete Systeme, deren Sensoren über ein paketvermittelndes Netzwerk mit dem Regler verbunden sind. Dabei wird angenommen, dass die Paketverzögerungen sowie der Paketverlust als unabhängig, identisch verteilte Zufallsprozesse oder als Markov-Ketten modelliert werden können. Mit dieser Annahme können wir das Problem als schaltendes System formulieren, für das dann Stabilitätsbedingungen sowie drei Reglerentwurfsverfahren vorgestellt werden. Zwei der drei Entwurfsverfahren wurden aus der Literatur übernommen, eines ist neu und liefert schneller einen stabilisierenden Regler, ist allerdings auch konservativer. Zum Schluss werden alle drei Algorithmen anhand eines gemeinsamen Simulationsbeispieles verglichen.

With the increasing complexity of modern automation systems, Networked Control Systems (NCS) gain more and more importance due to their modularity and simplified diagnosis. In NCS, plant and controller are spatially separated and the control loop is physically closed through a communication network. Communication time delay in a NCS degrades the performance and may lead to instability. In this article we propose a novel approach for time-varying delay applicable to the class of input-feedforward-output-feedback-passive (IF-OFP) systems. The proposed approach is based on an input-output transformation; instead of direct communication a linear transformation of the plant and controller input and output is sent through the communication network. Asymptotic stability is guaranteed for arbirarily large time delay with bounded rate of change. The control performance is superior compared to alternative approaches. Simulations show the validity of the proposed approach. Angesichts steigender Komplexität moderner Automatisierungssysteme gewinnen Netzwerkregelungssysteme wegen ihrer Modularität und vereinfachten Diagnose mehr und mehr an Bedeutung. In derartigen Systemen sind Prozess und Regler räumlich getrennt und über ein Kommunikationsnetz verbunden. Die dadurch induzierte Kommunikationstotzeit wirkt potenziell destabilisierend. In diesem Artikel wird eine neuartige Methode zur Stabilisierung in Gegenwart von variabler Totzeit vorgeschlagen, welche auf einer Eingangs-Ausgangs-Transformation basiert. Anstelle der ursprünglichen Ausgänge von Prozess und Regler werden Linearkombinationen aus deren Ein- und Ausgängen über das Kommunikationsnetz übertragen. Asymptotische Stabilität kann für Netzwerkregelungsysteme bestehend aus nichtlinearen eingangs-ausgangs-passiven Teilsystemen und beliebig große variable Totzeit mit begrenzter Änderungsrate garantiert werden. Die vorgeschlagene Methode zeichnet sich in Vergleich zu bekannten Ansätzen durch eine hervorragende Regelgüte aus. Ihre Validität wird in Simulationen bestätigt.

In the emulation approach to controller design for networked control systems the controller is first designed in continuous time ignoring the network and then implemented as a sampled-data controller. While very attractive for its simplicity, typically sufficiently small sampling periods are needed in order to ensure satisfactory performance of the resulting sampled-data closed loop. Thus, in the presence of network bandwidth constraints performance loss up to instability may occur. In this paper we present a variety of analytical and numerical techniques for the redesign of sampled-data controllers which improve the sampled-data performance of the non-redesigned controller and aim at reducing the necessary communication bandwidth. Im Emulationsansatz zum Entwurf einer Regelung über ein Kommunikationsnetz wird der Regler zunächst in kontinuierlicher Zeit ohne Berücksichtigung des Netzwerks entworfen und dann als Abtastregler implementiert. Dieser Ansatz ist attraktiv wegen seiner Einfachheit, benötigt aber i. A. hinreichend kleine Abtastraten für ein gutes Regelverhalten des resultierenden Abtastsystems. Unter Bandbreitenbeschränkungen kann daher die Regelgüte bis hin zur Instabilität beeinträchtigt werden. In dieser Arbeit stellen wir verschiedene analytische und numerische Entwurfstechniken zur Anpassung des Emulationsreglers an die Abtastsituation vor, mit denen die Regelgüte des Emulationsreglers verbessert wird, um so die benötigte Kommunikationsbandbreite zu verringern.

In this paper, a networked observer-based fault detection (FD) system is presented. First, the influence of noisy data transmission on the FD performance is analyzed and modeled. Based on it, a design scheme is developed for the construction of observer and residual evaluation unit. The core of this scheme is the integrated design of the coding strategy and FD system. The resulting FD system ensures high fault detectability and low false alarm rate. Der vorliegende Beitrag beschreibt ein vernetztes beobachtergestütztes Fehlerdiagnosesystem (FD-System). Es wird zunächst der Einfluss der rauschbehafteten Datenübertragung auf die Diagnoseperformanz analysiert und modelliert. Darauf basierend wird ein Verfahren zum Entwurf des Beobachters und der Residuenauswertungsstrategie entwickelt, das hohe Fehlerdetektierbarkeit und niedrige Fehlalarmrate sicherstellt. Kern des Verfahrens ist der kombinierte Entwurf der Codierungsstrategien und des FD-Systems.
