Social Policy Review 16
This chapter is in the book Social Policy Review 16

Abstract

This chapter summarises the recent social security reforms. It describes how the changes to the tax and benefit systems will function in practice, and then assesses some of the potential implications for those who are eligible. It is followed by a discussion of the developments that affect both children and families, such as the introduction of new rights for parents and the changes to the child support system. An outline of the new pension credit and developments in welfare to work policies and housing benefit can be found in the latter part of the chapter.
