Processing and Structure of Grain Boundaries in Strontium Titanate

Abstract
This article reports experimental studies on fabricating of well-defined bicrystals of SrTiO3 by diffusion bonding of single crystals in high vacuum. The bicrystals form a special tilt grain boundary with a fixed orientation. The atomistic structure and the composition of these grain boundaries in SrTiO3 are determined by advanced techniques of transmission electron microscopy.
Abstract
Untersuchungen zur Herstellung wohldefinierter SrTiO3-Zweikristalle mittels Diffusionsverschweißung von Einkristallen im Hochvakuum sind Gegenstand des vorliegenden Artikels. So können Zweikristalle mit einer speziellen Kippkorngrenze mit einer festgelegten Orientierung hergestellt werden. Die atomistische Struktur und die Zusammensetzung dieser Korngrenzen in SrTiO3 werden mit Methoden der Durchstrahlungselektronenmikroskopie bestimmt.
