Abstract

The author discusses the possibility to ascribe the different texts and fragments of the so-called “Annals of a Tutḫaliya” (CTH 142) to two kings with this name. Taking into consideration new textual evidence about a certain Piyamakurunta and based on a transliteration and translation of new material, mainly from KBo 50, the author puts forward the hypothesis that there are only annals from one and the same Tutḫaliya “I/II”, son of Kantuzzili, and that the fragments that mention Piyamakurunta refer to one and the same person with this name.
