Rehoboam's Fortified Cities (II Chr 11,5–12): A Hasmonean Reality?

The article brings together textual, archaeological and geographical data in an attempt to date the list of Rehoboam's fortified cities (II Chr 11,5–12). It shows that the list does not correspond to any Iron Age reality and that it fits the period of Hasmonean rule, probably in the days of John Hyrcanus in the second half of the 2nd century BCE. The article then discusses the historical circumstances that could have led to the composition of the list.
En reliant des données textuelles, archéologiques et géographiques, cette étude propose une datation de la liste des villes fortifiées par Roboam, selon II Chr 11,5–12. Il en ressort que cette liste ne se réfère pas à la situation de l'âge du fer, mais qu'elle trouve son cadre à l'époque hasmonéenne, en particulier sous le règne de Jean Hyrcan dans la seconde moitié du 2ème siècle av. n. è. Les circonstances historiques qui ont conduit à l'élaboration de cette liste sont également discutées.
In einer Verbindung von Beobachtungen zu Text, Archäologie und Geographie schlägt der Artikel eine Datierung der Liste der durch Rehabeam befestigten Städte aus II Chr 11,5–12 vor. Dabei wird gezeigt, dass die Liste keinen Bezug zu den Verhältnissen der Eisenzeit hat, dass sie aber zur hasmonäischen Periode, speziell dem Zeitabschnitt unter der Herrschaft von Johannes Hyrkanos in der zweiten Hälfte des 2. Jhs., passt. Der Artikel diskutiert weiter die historischen Umstände, die zur Entstehung der Liste geführt haben könnten.
