ELF and EFL: are they really different?

    Michael Swan is a writer specialising in English Language teaching and reference materials. His academic interests include descriptive and pedagogic grammar, mother-tongue influence in second language acquisition, and the relationship between applied linguistic theory and classroom language-teaching practice. He has published a large number of books and articles in his fields of interest; his latest publication, Thinking about Language Teaching: Selected articles 1982–2011, was published in 2011 by Oxford University Press. He has had extensive experience with adult learners, and has worked with teachers in many countries.
