Abstract
Abstract
Dromm is a linguist who has left academia and with it its binary order of submission and review. He mostly works as an expert who solves selected cold cases, but remains better known to a larger audience for his signature in a prop guest book in the Italian series Rocco Schiavone (Brignone 2019 [2016]. Rocco Schiavone – der Kommissar und die Alpen. Season 1, 3: Sturz in den Tod, 32:02. Rome: Rai 2). He has contributed to the field of linguistics of the night (Nassenstein and Storch 2022. Nachtlinguistik. Bielefeld: Transcript) as well to the problem of language as part of the commons (Storch 2024. Im Ziegelplattengrab. Cologne: Weissmann). In this paper, he contributes to an understanding of academic linguistics as a constructed world of scarcity where many practices of exclusion and marginalization remain unreflected and unchallenged.
