Les manuscrits du sud de la vallée de l’Indus en écriture khojkī sindhī: état des lieux et perspectives

Abstract
This article presents an overview of research on the corpus of eighteenth to twentieth century manuscripts from south of the Indus valley in Khojkī Sindhī script. After a general introduction to the significance of these manuscripts, we will first look at how researchers have approached the problem of the origins of the “Khojkī Sindhī” script and its relation to the religious tradition of the Khoja merchant caste of Sindh and Gujarat. Then, we systematically present the main cataloguing attempts and studies from 1964 onwards on the paleography, codicology, textual content and illustrations of these manuscripts. Finally, we summarize ongoing research and suggest new directions for future work on these manuscripts.
Résumé
L’objectif de cet article est d’établir un état des lieux de la recherche sur le corpus des manuscrits du XVIIIe au XXe siècle en écriture khojkī sindhī originaires du sud de la vallée de l’Indus. Après une introduction générale sur l’importance de ces manuscrits, on s’interrogera sur la manière dont des chercheurs ont abordé la question des origines de l’écriture khojkī sindhī et sa relation avec la tradition religieuse associée à la caste marchande des Khojas du Sindh et du Gujarat. Ensuite, nous présenterons systématiquement les travaux de catalogage et les études menés depuis 1964 jusqu’à présent sur l’écriture, les caractéristiques codicologiques et le contenu textuel et iconographique de ces manuscrits. Enfin il s’agira de résumer la recherche en cours et de proposer de nouvelles pistes pour des recherches à venir.
