Abstract
This book chapter seeks to understand the D&I (Diversity and Inclusion) practices in prominent Indian manufacturing companies. This study examines the connection between D&I practices and the organization’s performance in relation to the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Goals. The qualitative case study with the use of secondary data (published reports, strategy guidelines, other documents, etc.) was used to examine how the prominent organizations have been following the D&I initiatives since many years. The findings reveal that companies can benefit by developing multifaceted and effective D&I policies congruent with India’s unique cultural realities. This study identifies patterns linking D&I to organizational performance in achieving ESG goals and promoting inclusivity in similar industries. It highlights how D&I approaches mitigate biases and cultural sensitivities, ensuring smooth operations. Additionally, it underscores the role of leadership in driving D&I initiatives and the positive correlation between strong D&I practices and improved ESG performance.
