Abstract

This study examines four “prophecies from the event” concerning the roles of Paul and Peter in early Christian tradition. These prophecies, found in 2 Tim 4:6–8, Acts 23:11, John 21:18–19, and 2 Pet 1:12–15, highlight different aspects of Paul’s and Peter’s veneration, particularly their connection to Rome. Analysis of these texts underscores how early Christian communities, following the destruction of the Second Temple, attributed significant authority and veneration to Paul and Peter, even in the absence of definitive historical details regarding their deaths.
