Abstract
This chapter recapitulates nutraceuticals and food supplements having positive effects in most common ocular ailments like cataract, macular degeneration, glaucoma, dry eye disease, and various inflammatory ophthalmic diseases. The overview of pharmacological treatment and their limitations are also highlighted. The main aim of this chapter is to outline nutraceuticals that have potential biological effects and health benefits, with special focus on eye disease, including polyphenols, xanthophylls, carotenoids, polyunsaturated fatty acids, crocetin, and micronutrients. In a nutshell, many nutritional substances appear to provide advantageous impacts on the overall well-being of the ocular disease.
