Abstract

Essential oils have been touted as a powerful natural remedy for the effective prevention of pestilence in organic crops. Due to their quick environmental degradation and improved selectivity that favor beneficial insects, compounds of essential oils and their functional derivatives are popularly regarded as alternatives for efficiently managing numerous hazardous insects that devastate crops. There is an array of plant essential oil derivatives that have the potential to be used as biocontrol agents in the integrated management of pests. Alternatively, essential oils are additionally used in the medical sector, cosmetics, and industries, due to their various advantageous qualities, such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial potential.
