Abstract

The work presented in this book chapter proposes an intelligent way of building a smart chatbot using natural language processing (NLP) and deep learning (DL). Intelligent chatbots are one of the important contributors to rapidly increasing digital assistants and messaging platforms. The NLP and DL-based technique is used to build intelligent chatbot which is more or less a question-answering system. Here, a deep learning neural network is trained with relative data. Researchers face a lot of challenges while building an NLP and DL-based chatbot, such as contextual understanding, memory retention, intent recognition, etc. Among all the challenges, intent recognition is considered as one of the basic steps in building a chatbot as the bot has to understand the intention of the user in order to map its reply. Most of the time, rule-based methods fail to address the unseen scenario or unseen question. Hence, a smart method using deep learning is proposed which is more efficient and reliable.
