Abstract

Plants and the compounds derived from them have a long history of usage in the treatment and management of a wide variety of microbial diseases, wounds, and inflammation. This is likely due to the decreased risk of side effects associated with their use. The hunt for substitute methods or drug therapy, particularly those derived from medicinal plants, can be utilized to develop an economical, sustainable, stable, and effective delivery system for the treatment and allopathic management. The article aims to provide an overview to the readers, which will enable them in having a better comprehensive understanding of the functions that plant-based components play in the treatment and management of microbial disease, wounds, and inflammation.
