Anna Ayşe Akasoy
Anna Ayşe Akasoy is Professor of Islamic intellectual history at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She received her Ph.D. in 2005 from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University, Frankfurt. Her research focuses on three subjects: the cultural history of falconry in the Middle East until the Ottoman period, Muslim-Buddhist contacts, and theories and narratives of decision-making in the Islamic world. Her publications includeIslam and Tibet: Interactions Along the Musk Route (2010),Rashīd al-Dīn, Agent and Mediator of Cultural Exchanges in Ilkhanid Iran (2013) andAl-Kindī, Die Erste Philosophie: Arabisch-Deutsch (2011).
