Abstract

This chapter sheds light on the role of digital transformation in creating affordances and enabling the emergence of opportunities for entrepreneurs. The case of Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, is retained as a particular context to understand how this transformation is taking place, emphasizing the role of the entrepreneurial ecosystem as a catalyst for these opportunities. As a pioneer and one of the leaders in adopting the 5G and other technological infrastructure within sub-Saharan Africa, Antananarivo should provide opportunities to entrepreneurs. Our results highlight the role of institutions and the different actors as well as the context that can reduce the seizing of opportunities induced by digital transformation by entrepreneurs. Recommendations are addressed in order to improve the possibilities induced by the technological changes and allow Malagasy entrepreneurs to seize more opportunities.
