Chapter 6. Community voices

Abstract

This chapter presents qualitative analysis of interviews with community partners and liaisons. It discusses community partner and liaison perspectives of service-learners’ engagement and the impacts of community service-learning on local communities from their viewpoint. This chapter importantly gives communities a too-often overlooked voice in the context of community service-learning. Community partners and liaisons offer guidance for developing stronger partnerships, additional insights into the connections between community members and students, challenges in community service-learning practice, and strategies to overcome them.
