Abstract

The purpose of this work is to develop a high efficiency air cleaning system for air pollutants such as particles, odor and suspended microbes in indoor air. In order to enhance a removal efficiency of odor pollutants, we suggested that pulsed discharge plasma be combined with TiO2 photocatalyst (photocatalyst plasma air cleaning filter). The wavelength of light radiated from pulsed discharge plasma under the atmospheric condition was 310 ~ 380nm. We compared photocatalyst plasma with plasma only for dust and odor removal in airtight room. Also, we measured the removal efficiency of allergen in indoor air, such as bacteria, fungi, pollen, mites, fur of pets. We investigated the satisfaction by sensory test for 22 allergic patients after using the air cleaning filter. These results indicate that the photocatalyst plasma air cleaning filter is potential method in removing air pollutants.
