Abstract
This paper investigates the ‘epinician’ fragment of Callimachus’ Hecale (fr. 69 H.) andits possible allusions to Pindar (chiefly O. 14. 20-24). Callimachus seems to use the Pindaricsubtext, fusing it with a Homeric one, in order to enrich the episode with a touch of forebodingabout Hecale’s imminent death
