The methanido-bis(aminophosphonium) salts 3a-d can easily be synthesized by CCl 4 -reaction of Ph 2 PCH 2 PPh 2 . Their structure is confirmed by 31 P{ 1 H} and 13 C{1H} NMR data. Dehydrohalogenation by NaH yields the methanidobis( phosphoranylamide/imide) 4 c. Several possible tautomers of 4c are discussed. With excess NaH the salts 3 a-d react to form the sodium-[methanido-bis(diphenylphosphoniumimides)] 5 a-d, sodium chelates of 4.
