In this article we show that results similar to those of the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen-Bohm (EPRB) Gedankenexperiment and entanglement of photons can be obtained using weak classical light waves if we take into account the discrete (atomic) structure of the detectors and a specific nature of the light-atom interaction. We show that the CHSH (Clauser, Horne, Shimony, and Holt) criterion in the EPRB Gedankenexperiment with classical light waves can exceed not only the maximum value S HV =2 that is predicted by the local hidden-variable theories but also the maximum value SQM=22\({S_{QM}} = 2\sqrt 2 \) predicted by quantum mechanics.

In this article, a parametric deformation of the Cornu spiral is introduced. The parameter is an integration constant which appears in the general solution of the Riccati equation and is related to the Fresnel integrals. The Argand plots of the deformed spirals are presented and a supersymmetric (Darboux) structure of the deformation is revealed through the factorization approach.

In the present study, multi-scale entropy algorithm was used to characterise the complex flow phenomena of turbulent droplets in high water-cut oil-water two-phase flow. First, we compared multi-scale weighted permutation entropy (MWPE), multi-scale approximate entropy (MAE), multi-scale sample entropy (MSE) and multi-scale complexity measure (MCM) for typical nonlinear systems. The results show that MWPE presents satisfied variability with scale and anti-noise ability. Accordingly, we conducted an experiment of vertical upward oil-water two-phase flow with high water-cut and collected the signals of a high-resolution microwave resonant sensor, based on which two indexes, the entropy rate and mean value of MWPE, were extracted. Besides, the effects of total flow rate and water-cut on these two indexes were analysed. Our researches show that MWPE is an effective method to uncover the dynamic instability of oil-water two-phase flow with high water-cut.

A theoretical investigation is carried out to understand the basic features of nonlinear propagation of heavy ion-acoustic (HIA) waves subjected to an external magnetic field in an electron-positron-ion plasma that consists of cold magnetized positively charged heavy ion fluids and superthermal distributed electrons and positrons. In the nonlinear regime, the Korteweg-de Vries (K-dV) and modified K-dV (mK-dV) equations describing the propagation of HIA waves are derived. The latter admits a solitary wave solution with both positive and negative potentials (for K-dV equation) and only positive potential (for mK-dV equation) in the weak amplitude limit. It is observed that the effects of external magnetic field (obliqueness), superthermal electrons and positrons, different plasma species concentration, heavy ion dynamics, and temperature ratio significantly modify the basic features of HIA solitary waves. The application of the results in a magnetized EPI plasma, which occurs in many astrophysical objects (e.g. pulsars, cluster explosions, and active galactic nuclei) is briefly discussed.

A symmetrically conservative two-mass system with time delay is considered here. We analyse the influence of interaction coefficient and time delay on the Hopf-pitchfork bifurcation. The bifurcation diagrams and phase portraits are then obtained by computing the normal forms for the system in which, particularly, the unfolding form for case III is seldom given in delayed differential equations. Furthermore, we also find some interesting dynamical behaviours of the original system, such as the coexistence of two stable non-trivial equilibria and a pair of stable periodic orbits, which are verified both theoretically and numerically.

Hartley chaotic system is topologically the simplest, but its dynamical behaviours are very rich and its synchronisation has not been seen in literature. This paper aims to introduce a simple chaotic system which can be used as alternative to classical chaotic systems in synchronisation fields. Time series, phase portraits, and bifurcation diagrams reveal the dynamics of the mentioned system. Chaotic Hartley model is also supported with electronic circuit model simulations. Its exponential dynamics are hard to realise on circuit model; this paper is the first in literature that handles such a complex modelling problem. Modelling, synchronisation, and circuit realisation of the Hartley system are implemented respectively in MATLAB-Simulink and ORCAD environments. The effectiveness of the applied synchronisation method is revealed via numerical methods, and the results are discussed. Retrieved results show that this complex chaotic system can be used in secure communication fields.

The Planck Era cannot be given an accurate mathematical description until the full theory of quantum gravity is available. However, some aspects of the physical state of the Planck Era can be revealed by order of the magnitude considerations which also have implications for the low entropy of the very early universe.

Infinite families of new functionally independent invariants are derived for the axisymmetric dynamics of viscous plasmas with zero electrical resistance. As a consequence, we find that, if two axisymmetric plasma states are dynamically connected, then their total number of magnetic rings must be equal (the same as for the total numbers of magnetic blobs) and the corresponding infinitely many new invariants must coincide.

Transparent and conducting p -type zinc oxide (ZnO) thin films doped with gallium (Ga) and nitrogen (N) simultaneously were deposited on glass substrates by spray pyrolysis technique. Phase composition analysis by X-ray diffraction confirmed the polycrystallinity of the films with pure ZnO phase. Energy dispersive X-ray analysis showed excellent incorporation of N in the ZnO matrix by means of codoping. The optical transmittance of N monodoped film was poor but got improved with Ga-N codoping and also resulted in the enhancement of optical energy gap. Hole concentration increased with codoping and consequently, lower resistivity and high stability were obtained.

Novel luminescent materials Ca 3- x Si 2 O 7 : x Pr 3+ were successfully prepared by the high-temperature solid-state method. The crystal structure, morphology, and optical spectrum were characterised by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and spectroscopy, respectively. The XRD patterns of the samples indicate that the crystal structure is monoclinic symmetry. The SEM shows that the selected sample has good crystallinity although its appearance is irregular and scalelike. The peak of the excitation spectrum of the sample is located at around 449 nm, corresponding to 3 H 4 → 3 P 2 transition of Pr 3+ . The peak of the emission spectrum of the sample is situated at around 612 nm which is attributed to 3 P 0 → 3 H 6 transition of Pr 3+ , and the colour is orange-red. The optimum concentration for Pr 3+ replaced Ca 2+ sites in Ca 3 Si 2 O 7 : Pr 3+ is 0.75 mol%. The lifetime (8.48 μs) of a typical sample (Ca 2.9925 Pr 0.0075 )Si 2 O 7 is obtained. It reveals that orange-red phosphors Ca 3- x Si 2 O 7 : x Pr 3+ possess remarkable optical properties and can be used in white light emitting devices.

In this paper, the light scattering properties for multiple silver-coated dielectric nanocylinders with the symmetrical distribution were investigated. Based on the transfer matrix method, we derive the general transmission and reflection coefficient matrices for multiple dielectric nanocylinders. When the incident light frequencies are less than the plasma frequencies, the surface plasmons (SPs) appear in the interface between the silver and dielectrics. Numerical simulations show that there are three peaks of absorption cross-section (ACS) in the relationship between the ACS and the frequencies of the incident light, when the distance between the silver-coated dielectric nanocylinders is chosen properly. These SPs resonance peaks are characterised as resonances intrinsic to the cylindrically periodic system corresponding to different inner cavity structures. These multi-resonant cavities may have potential applications in integrated devices, optical sensors and optical storage devices.
