About this journal

Tenside Surfactants Detergents offers the most recent results of research and development in all fields of surfactant chemistry, such as: synthesis, analysis, physicochemical properties, new types of surfactants, progress in production processes, application-related problems and environmental behavior. Since 1964 Tenside Surfactants Detergents offers strictly peer-reviewed, high-quality articles by renowned specialists around the world.
All articles are subject to thorough, independent peer review.
Tenside Surfactants Detergents is the organ of the German Chemical Society (GDCh e.V.), Division "Chemie des Waschens".

History

The international scientific journal Tenside Surfactants Detergents was founded in 1964 and titled Tenside at this time. The reason for the foundation of Tenside was the lively public interest in environmental problems caused by detergents and cleaning agents, which was being discussed in the media and at conferences at the time.

In particular, the main subject areas were related to the environmental problems associated with the application of surfactants and other ingredients in detergents and cleaning agents. Very soon other ingredients of detergents and cleaning agents, e.g. phosphates, became the subject of critical interest in addition to surfactants. The increasingly broad subject area of surface-active compounds should be reflected in the title of the journal, and therefore, the title was first changed to Tenside Detergents in 1970 and finally to Tenside Surfactants Detergents in 1986.

The language of publication was originally German. With the increasing number of English-language contributions, this was changed, and by the end of the 1990s all contributions were published in English.

Today, Tenside Surfactants Detergents deals with all aspects of the chemistry, physics and application technology of surface-active compounds.
