As a worldwide phenomenon, Microblogging has gained increasing popularity. Twitter has not only attracted more than 100 Million active users in its six year history but is also said to have a considerable impact on public communication as is signified by its use during the Arab spring movement. In the corporate arena, the Enterprise Microblogging platform Yammer claims to have grown to more than 100000 corporate users. Since Microblogging is claimed to have benefits in fostering communication and knowledge sharing within enterprises, it seems timely to take a closer look at the phenomenon. Our paper summarizes the state of the art on Enterprise Microblogging. It reviews three Enterprise Microblogging case studies and compares their key findings regarding implementation, use and created benefits. Zusammenfassung

The article investigates 16 implementation projects (cases) of collaborative systems to identify structures, processes and activities associated with implementing change. Using an interpretive research process we apply thematic content analysis to the case documents to identify key themes in the introduction of collaborative technologies. The coding process yielded 184 individual codes which were grouped into 28 themes. These themes are discussed and the findings presented using the 8C Framework. The findings indicate a complex array of methods, processes and strategies for the management of change. Zusammenfassung

Enterprise 2.0 is a broad term. It comprises not only the diverse applications of social software in organisations, but also the cultural and organisational change along with them. A generally accepted classification scheme that covers the diverse aspects of specific social software solutions had not yet been established. Such a classification scheme would be helpful to clarify young terms like Enterprise 2.0 or social software and to establish a common understanding. In this paper we present a classification scheme and how it was developed. Through a literature analysis of publications from academia and practice and of keywords used in online case study sites, 37 classification categories were derived. Based on a survey, 13 classification categories were chosen to be implemented in a web-based case study platform, and their value ranges were determined. In this article we describe selected categories in more detail: objectives, fields of application and success factors as well as barriers in the implementation process of Enterprise 2.0 in organizations, as they are not self-explanatory. This paper investigates major differences between organizational cooperation and social media platforms to identify ways for the evolution of a cooperation platform into a social media platform. This analysis starts with an investigation of existing social media application to identify important characteristics related to organizational cooperation. This is followed by mapping these to traditional cooperation platforms using BSCW for illustration. Zusammenfassung

Enterprise applications need to be connected effectively to successfully connect employees. This article looks at the different use cases for integrating social software and legacy systems, discusses different integration approaches, highlights the technical challenges and provides an outlook on the next evolution of integration frameworks. Our daily work in the information society relies on creating, editing and collecting different information objects. Without additional presentation mechanisms these activities of particular knowledge workers remain hidden in the underlying IT systems. The resulting lack of awareness can lead to inefficient coordination as well as to the duplication of work in the worst case. Activity streams from Social Software offer new ways to increase the awareness, but the desktop-based user interfaces in typical organizational settings currently only utilize a small portion of their full socio-technical potential.
