Technical terminology can often be found in scientific texts as phrases or multi-word groups. We present an algorithmic method for detecting and extracting technical multi-word groups. A special focus lies on function words of the German language in order to allow the extraction of complex multi-word constructions. For the study Lingo , an automatic indexing system, was used. The potential of the method is shown by the results of an extraction of art-historical terminology from the Reallexikon zur Deutschen Kunstgeschichte .

Learning space is a future task, which is far ­beyond spatial and infrastructural offers for students. Learning space shall facilitate students’ autonomous and self-organized learning and thereby enhance their literacies. Dealing with this task, is impossible without the teamwork of various stakeholders from faculties, service facilities and administration units. Establishing versatile and sustainable learning space requires the dislimitation of structurally determined responsibilities for the benefit of pragmatic, target group-oriented measures, including all stakeholders and stakeholder’s units. The contribution presents a holistic understanding of learning space. Based on the dimensions of learning spaces as defined by the DINI work-group “Lernräume”, the authors exemplary illustrate common tasks, stakeholders and achievements.

This contribution deals with the decisions made between 1998 and 2013 and the realized activities in the field of preservation on a national level in Germany. Regarded are the different requirements of archives and libraries as well as the deviated processes. In the focus are the technical solutions to preserve the “original copy” like mass deacidification and automated ­paper splitting and the contractual frameworks. The contribution ends with a short look concerning further possible activities.
