Six Globalisation, social justice and the politics of aid
Abstract
This chapter studies globalisation, social justice, and the politics of aid. It argues that the cosmopolitans are right against Rawls, and that principles of distributive justice should be global in scope. It begins with a discussion of going beyond the self-contained society, and then identifies the global barriers to the ‘well-ordered society’. Structural reform, piecemeal amelioration, and direct transfers are also introduced in this chapter.
