One Social justice and public policy: a view from political philosophy
Abstract
This chapter uses a political philosophy view to examine social justice and public policy, and is divided into four main sections. It first surveys the current state of debate on equality and social justice in political philosophy. This is followed by a study of some topics within social policy, while focusing particularly on the issue of disability. The third section suggests a way forward, by combining the suspension of some philosophical disputes and the enrichment of philosophical conceptual vocabulary. The fourth and final section reviews the advantages for political philosophy and social policy of taking such an approach.
