4 Policy drivers and relevant legislation in the UK
Abstract
This chapter describes the policy context that might encourage the development and nurturing of community social work across the UK. It outlines the differing legal and policy-making jurisdictions found in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It comes with a health warning that the scene in each country changes with elections and new administrations and can therefore only detail briefly the main drivers at the time of writing.
