Abstract
Synthesis and reactions of 6-chloro-7-fluoro-4-oxo-4H-chromene-3-carboxylic acid are described. The molecular structure of its achiral heterotopic 3-diethoxy-methyl precursor has been determined by NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. C14H14ClFO4 is monoclinic, space group P21/a, with unit cell dimensions a = 14.923(5), b = 6.615(2), c = 14.921(5) Å, β = 101.44(3)°, V = 1443.7(8) Å3, Z = 4, Dcalc. = 1.383 g/cm3.
