Beobachtungen zum Kristallwachstum in gashaltigen Schmelzen*

Abstract

It is shown that in crystals grown using the method of Nacken and Kyropoulos sectors form at least within the zone of final crystallization; these sectors are caused by the gas content of the melt. Within these sectors a cell structure develops selectively. Only the normals to the octahedral faces are observed as cell axes; this accords with the experimental results of J. Schlipf obtained from the growth of salt dendrites and their interpretation based on the frequency of two-dimensional nucleation.
