Chronological Notes on the Reigns of Hezekiah and Hoshea

Abstract
The recent study by Nadav Naʾaman on the Judean »fiscal« bullae from private collections supports the reliability of the synchronism between the deaths of Ahaz and Tiglath-pileser III in Isa 14:28–29. Close attention to this synchronism and to the way it is anchored in Mesopotamian chronology dates the death of Ahaz and the enthronement of Hezekiah to 727/6 BCE (a year later than suggested by Naʾaman) and leads to important conclusions concerning the calendars and the systems of counting regnal years practiced in the courts of Hezekiah of Judah and his contemporary, Hoshea of Israel.
Zusammenfassung
Nadav Na’amans jüngste Studie zu judäischen »Fiskal« bullae im Privatbesitz unterstützt den Synchronismus zwischen den Todesdaten von Ahas und Tiglat-Pileser III in Jes 14,28–29. Eine genaue Beachtung dieses Synchronismus und seiner Verankerung in Mesopotamischer Chronologie ermöglicht eine Datierung des Todes Ahas und der Thronbesteigung Hiskias auf das Jahr 727/6 v. Chr. (ein Jahr später als bei Na’aman), sowie wichtige Rückschlüsse bezüglich der Kalender und der Zählung von Regierungsjahren am Hofe Hiskias von Judah und seines Zeitgenossen Hosea von Israel.
Résumé
La récente étude de Nadav Naʾaman sur les bulles « fiscales » judéennes provenant de collections privées confirme la fiabilité du synchronisme entre les décès d’Achaz et de Tiglath-pileser III en Esaïe 14,28–29. Une attention particulière portée à ce synchronisme et à la manière dont il s’ancre dans la chronologie mésopotamienne permet de dater la mort d’Achaz et l’intronisation d’Ézéchias en 727/6 avant notre ère (un an plus tard que ce que suggère Naʾaman) et de tirer des conclusions importantes concernant les calendriers et les systèmes de décompte des années de règne utilisés dans les cours d’Ézéchias de Juda et de son contemporain, Osée d’Israël.
