Scribal Experiences of Salvation – Aspects of Formation Processes in the Hezekiah-Isaiah Narratives

Abstract
To this day there is no consensus about the dating and literary growth of the Hezekiah-Isaiah narratives. This paper is a contribution designed to clarify the literary history of these stories. It considers processes of innerbiblical exegesis, aspects of a text-critical analysis and facets of their absolute and relative dating. Simultaneously, observations on the multiple cross connections with other texts reveal the theological substance of the stories: Experiences of misery that appear in the older Isaiah tradition developed into a salvation-theological ideal in the Hezekiah-Isaiah narratives.
Zusammenfassung
Bis heute besteht kein Konsens über die Datierung und das literarische Wachstum der Hiskia-Jesaja-Erzählungen. Dieser Aufsatz bietet einen Beitrag zur Klärung der Literaturgeschichte dieser Geschichten, indem er Prozesse innerbiblischer Exegese, Aspekte textkritischer Analyse und Facetten ihrer absoluten und relativen Datierung in den Blick nimmt. Die Beobachtungen zu den vielfältigen Querverbindungen mit anderen Texten geben die theologische Substanz der Geschichten zu erkennen: Erfahrungen des Elends, die in der älteren Jesaja-Tradition auftauchen, entwickelten sich in den Hiskia-Jesaja-Erzählungen zu einem rettungstheologischen Ideal.
Resumé
À ce jour, il n‘y a pas de consensus sur la datation et la diachronie des récits sur Ezéchias et Esaïe. Cet article veut clarifier la diachronie de ces récits en examinant les processus d‘exégèse intra-biblique, les aspects de la critique textuelle et les indications de leur datation absolue et relative. De plus, l‘observation des multiples liens intertextuels révèle la substance théologique des récits : les expériences de misère qui apparaissent dans la tradition la plus ancienne d‘Esaïe se sont développées en un idéal théologique de salut dans les récits sur Ezéchias et Esaïe.
