Zoltán Hidas (Dr. phil.) leitet das Institut für Soziologie an der Pázmány Péter Katholischen Universität in Budapest. Nach Studien der Ökonomie, Philosophie und Soziologie in Budapest und Heidelberg promovierte er am Max-Weber-Kolleg für kultur- und sozialwissenschaftliche Studien der Universität Erfurt.
