La idea de lengua en los Comentarios reales del Inca Garcilaso de la Vega

Abstract
This work offers a reflection on the concept of language elaborated by the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega in Comentarios reales. The author shows how de La Vega’s ideas collaborate with the historiographical discourse which the Inca introduced, and how, moreover, they are employed to model the Andean past. In this case, the Quechua is part of a hermeneutical strategy. Secondly, Garcilaso de la Vega is situated within the framework of the history of linguistic concepts in Spain and it is shown how the chronicler translates and applies this framework to the history of the Incas.
