Zusammenfassung

Einleitung: Die Vorteile einer effizienten Labordiagnostik bei Infektionskrankheiten sollen exemplarisch anhand des dargestellten Falls gezeigt werden.

Methode: Kurzdarstellung eines Patientenfalls mit bakterieller Meningokokken-Meningitis.

Ergebnis und Schlussfolgerung: Der Fall unterstreicht die Bedeutung einer schnellen und umfassenden, in die Prozesse eines Notfalllabors integrierten Infektionsdiagnostik, auch im Hinblick auf nachgeschaltete und umfangreiche Untersuchungen des Öffentlichen Gesundheitsdienstes.

Abstract

Background: This case study illustrates the advantages of efficient laboratory diagnostics.

Method: Outline of a patient with bacterial meningococcal meningitis.

Results and conclusions: This case study highlights the importance of fast and broad infection diagnostics that is integrated in the processes of an emergency laboratory in addition to downstream and broad investigations in the public health service.
