El contexto mítico de Iuno Sospita en Etruria. Un análisis iconográfico

Resumen

El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar los testimonios materiales en contexto etrusco de una deidad femenina tocada con la piel de cabra e identificada con la Juno Sospita latina. Ante todo, se examinarán las escenas narrativas o con un carácter más complejo para tratar de desentrañar el contexto mítico en el que se inserta esta divinidad. Su iconografía destaca por una relación estrecha con Heracles/Hercle en representaciones en las que prima el enfrentamiento con el héroe. A través del análisis comparativo de los distintos testimonios disponibles, es posible vislumbrar la existencia de un relato o leyenda que vincula a estos personajes, pero cuya intención es subrayar la reconciliación entre ambos. Esta finalidad cuenta con paralelos en otras imágenes protagonizadas por la diosa Uni/Juno y el héroe en ambiente etrusco, como es el caso de las escenas de amamantamiento.

Summary

The aim of this paper is to analyse the material testimonies in an Etruscan context of a female deity touched by goatskin and identified with the Latin Juno Sospita. First of all, we will examine the narrative scenes or those with a more complex character in order to try to unravel the mythical context in which this deity is inserted. Her iconography stands out for its close relationship with Heracles/Hercle in representations in which the confrontation with the hero prevails. Through the comparative analysis of the different testimonies available, it is possible to glimpse the existence of a story or legend that links these characters, but whose intention is to emphasize the reconciliation between both. This aim has parallels in other images of the goddess Uni/Juno and the hero in an Etruscan setting, such as the breastfeeding scenes.
