Awareness of life and culture of faith

Abstract
In Christian religious practices humankind’s being human is central. Faith includes the experience of humans’ coming to being. This is the reason why a person’s faith should not be burdened with ideas charging or reproaching their humanity. For faith itself is a category of passionate human engagement. And yet, sometimes one is left with the impression that in a Christian culture of faith the alternatives are either to be fully human or to be religious – for God’s sake. The following text explores some backgrounds of the experience, and shows why one of the most important functions of faith is to provide a solid basis for a good awareness of life.
Zusammenfassung
In der christlich religiösen Praxis steht das Mensch-Sein des Menschen im Mittelpunkt. Der Glaube beinhaltet die Erfahrung der Entstehung des Menschen. Das ist der Grund, warum der Glaube von Personen nicht mit Ideen belastet werden sollte, die sie für ihre Menschlichkeit anklagen oder ihnen Vorwürfe machen. Denn der Glaube selbst ist eine Kategorie des leidenschaftlichen menschlichen Engagements. Dabei bekommt man manchmal den Eindruck, dass in einer christlichen Glaubenskultur die Alternativen lauten entweder vollkommen menschlich oder religiös zu sein – um Gottes willen. Der folgende Text untersucht die Hintergründe dieser Erfahrung und zeigt, warum eine der wichtigsten Funktionen des Glaubens ist, eine solide Basis für ein gutes Bewusstsein des Lebens bereit zu stellen.
