Extra muros and intra muros: The desire of seekers, indecision, and the “ethics of inarticulacy”[1]

Abstract
The experiences of outsiders should be taken seriously. Breaking the hegemony of heteronormativity calls for a transformation of the institutional church in order to engage with excluded people in a liberating way. The article illustrates how exclucivism has been overcome with a shift in emphasis first from clergy to laity, and later to also include outsiders. From the perspecive of such a “transvaluation of values” practical theology can look to the future. The article explains the desire of those extra muros, the indecision of those intra muros and the inarticulacy of both. Sexual minorities are an example of those outside.
Zusammenfassung
Die Erfahrungen von Aussenstehenden sollten ernstgenommen werden. Der Aufbruch der Vorherrschaft von Heteronormativität fordert eine Veränderung der institutionellen Kirche, um sich mit ausgeschlossenen Menschen befreiend zu befassen. Der Artikel veranschaulicht, wie Exklusivität durch eine Schwerpunktverschiebung vom Klerus zu Laien, und später zu Aussenstehenden überwunden worden ist. Praktische Theologie kann von der Perspektive einer solchen „Umwertung aller Werte“ der Zukunft entgegensehen. Der Artikel behandelt die Sehnsucht derer extra muros, die Unentschlossenheit derer intra muros und die Unartikuliertheit beider. Sexuelle Minderheiten werden als ein Beispiel von Aussenstehenden aufgezeigt.
