Cyclophilin involvement in the replication of hepatitis C virus and other viruses

  • James Baugh

James M. Baugh received his PhD from the Department of Microbiology at the University of Chicago in 2009, where he interrogated the ubiquitin independent roteasomal degradation pathway. He is now a Research Associate in the laboratory of Dr. Gallay, investigating the mechanism of action for cyclophilin inhibitor-mediated disruption of hepatitis C virus replication.

    and Philippe Gallay

Philippe Gallay was born in 1963 and received his PhD in 1993 from the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois in Lausanne, Switzerland. After completing his postdoctoral training at The Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, California, he moved up the road to The Scripps Research Institute and as an Assistant Professor started his own laboratory in the Department of Immunology. Now a full Professor in the Department of Immunology and Microbial Science, Dr. Gallay’s research focuses on the interplay between host factors and two prime human threats – the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and the hepatitis C virus (HCV).
