Background

ACS organizes two national meetings and expositions each year, and each one attracts an estimated 11,000–18,000 chemists, chemical engineers, academicians, graduate and undergraduate students, and other related professionals. During the meeting, scientists present new multidisciplinary research, hear the latest information in their areas of professional interest, and network with colleagues. Programming is planned by our 33 technical divisions that cover all scientific fields, secretariats that focus on multidisciplinary programming, and ACS committees. Each meeting will feature more than 7000 presentations organized into technical symposia that highlight important research advances.

Introduction

The ACS Fall National Meeting is a scientific conference devoted to chemistry. Twenty-nine technical divisions will meet with more than 15,000 chemists, academics, students, and other professionals in San Francisco as we explore the Fall 2014 ACS National Meeting theme: Chemistry and Global Stewardship. Poster sessions, social events, and presentations present unparalleled opportunities to network with your peers. Find out other great reasons to attend at http://www.acs.org/sanfran2014.

Conference topics and theme

This theme is focused on global aspects of the chemical enterprise related to sustainability of world resources, including green chemistry, the globalization of chemistry, and the responsibilities and opportunities chemists have to serve the broader public. In particular, divisional programming and special themed symposia will cover and discuss the role and interplay of science, technology, innovation, and economic development in world stewardship of precious, limited resources while providing physical and economic security for all world citizens.
